Watts Junior Cup 17-18 - 1st Round
The Junior Cup, under its new moniker the “Watts’ Junior Cup” got under way, and fittingly Brize Norton progressed to the second round after a 2-1 win over Moreton Rangers. Brize’s Dan Humm put through his own net for Moreton, but goals from Gezz Morgan and Ozzy Oswald and a fine performance from Steve Marshall in the Brize goal ensured the hosts would progress to the next round.

Hanborough Reserves however pulled off the big upset in the opening round as the Division 2 basement boys defeated Tower Hill Stars 4-2. With their pitch at West Witney unavailable Stars probably regretted the decision to find another pitch in a competition they would have thought they would have a great chance of winning. Hanborough’s young side are gradually finding their feet in adult football and won through goals from Dan Rockett, Herbie Hamilton, Josh Brooks and Luke Archer. Adam Townsend and Craig Green replied for the hosts.

Stonesfield defeated Division 2 leaders Kingham by the odd goal in 3. Ed Gilkes and Mike Phipps were on target for the visitors, with Chris Mills replying.

Middle Barton and Spartan Rangers Res met for the 2nd week running and there was a similar result with Middle Barton 3-1. It was a couple of old timers who did the dame for Middle Barton with Paul Beckham and Tony Bott who have a combined age of 105 scoring 2 of the goals. Matty Travers. a mere youngster at 35 added the 3rd. Ben Allen grabbed Spartan’s consolation.

A brace for Matt Thompson and 1 from Dave Cross were enough for Witney Royals to defeat local rivals Witney Wanderers 3-2. Stu Morrison and Josh Walkington reaplied for the home side, who probably unlucky not to take the game to extra time.

Supplementary Cup First Round
Jack Knight helped himself to a five goal haul in Chipping Norton Town’s 11-0 thrashing of Brize Norton Reserves. Mark Corbett and Liam Nimmo bagged a brace each with Martin Krays and Yusuf Okunade completing the rout.

Carterton Town B also had plain sailing into Round Two as they beat Combe Reserves 9-0. Mark Williams, Keiron Lace and Dan Chillington all netted doubles, with Dave Wanless, Noven Labor and Ryan Clement adding others.

Corinthians and Kingham AB Reserves took their game to penalties after drawing 4-4 in regulation time. Frank Webb recorded a hat trick with Harry Puffitt getting the 4th for Corinthians. Liam Barnes (2), Dan Alsworth and Adrian Williams all netted for Kingham but it was hosts Corinthians who held their nerve from the spot to go through to the next round.

Steve Holder scored a hat trick in FC Hollybush’s 7-1 win over Wootton. Al Roger (2), Lee Moseley and Danny Brearley got the others while Liam Jenkinson scored the consolation for Wootton.

Siege FC Made might work of Spartan Rangers A during their 7-0 mauling of the visitors. Andy Makepeace scored a hat trick with Matt Mills (2) James Woodham-Davies and Will Griffiths netting the others.

Premier Division
In the day’s only Premier Division game Minster Lovell beat Carterton Town A 7-1. Steve Burke (2), Eddy Dunn, Mike Hedges, George Reynolds, Jonny Fletched and Charlie McCulloch were all on target in the win which saw Olly Bush score Town’s consolation goal.

Division One
Tower Hill reclaimed top spot courtesy of a 2-1 win over Bampton United. Dan Paintin scored for the hosts but goals from Jamie Mariana and Ian Wright secured all three points for the visitors.

Nomads came out on top in their proverbial 6-pointer with Eynsham SSC winning 4-0. The hosts had no answer to Nomads who scored through Chris Laurence, Vince Smith, Jordan Thomas and Lee Scholes.
Nomads, who are still in the drop zone, are now only 2 points behind their visitors, however Eynsham have two games in hand on their victors.

The points were shared by Chadlington and Milton as this mid-table meeting ended 3-3. The hosts scored through Jarvis Morley, Lee Woodward and Matt Chadwick with Steven Pearce (2) and Rob James replying for Milton.

Division Two
Aston Reserves claimed the Division Two result of the day earning a share of the spoils from their 2-2 draw with promotion hopefuls Charlbury Town Reserves. Town, who missed the chance to go top scored through Damien Corbin and Darryl Potter, but goals from Ryan Hewer and Matt Smith ensured the sides would have to settle for a point each. Aston are now 2 points form safety with 3 games in hand.

Hailey Reserves went down 3-2 to Bletchindon. Freddie Buckingham scored twice for the hosts but goals from Todd Parker-Hunt, Richard Wells and Danny Evans ensured Bletch left with all three points.

Division Three
Mikey Piper, Jamie Goodwin and Ollie Nolan were all on target for Witney Royals Reserves in their 3-1 win over Milton Reserves. Milton, who are yet to register a point this season scored through Duncan Cooper.

Division Four
Bletchington Reserves did their promotion chances and their goal difference no harm at all after a 13-1 demolition of Siege FC Reserves. Michael Trafford was the undoubted start of the show racking up an impressive eight goals in the match. He was kind enough to let team mates Senan Simmons (who scored a hat trick), Mason Connelly and Chris Fennell all share a little of the spot light.

Promotion candidates Wootton Reserves returned to the top after they beat Stonesfield Reserves 3-0. Will Gayton, Jack Pease and Elliot Higgins all got their names on the score sheet.

FC Ascott Reserves and Chadlington Reserves drew 1-1. Brook Jones and Ollie Jordan scored for Ascott and Chad respectively.
