John Fathers Junior Shield
It was a mixed bag of fortunes for the Witney & District sides in the Second Round of the John Fathers Junior Shield competition. There was
guaranteed W&D representation in the third round as several of our league sides faced each other.

Kirtlington knocked out hosts Bampton Town 5-2. Tom Coppinger netted for Bampton along with Jack Goodchild but goals from Shane Probitts (2), Adam Kelly (2) and Alex Metcalfe saw the visitors through.

George Slatter banged in 4 goals as Chadlington brushed aside FC Nomads 5-1. T.Cleevely got the other as Chris Lawrence replied in vain for Nomads.

A single Martin Dare goal was enough to see Kingham through with a 1-0 win over Witney Wanderers.

Charlbury sent Middle Barton crashing after a 7-1 mauling. The goals came from McCullogh (2), Jason Eley, Gary Jones, Steve Fitzgerald and Sean Gilbert with Lewis Fowler getting Middle Barton’s only goal.

Ryan Maskey picked up a four goal haul as North Leigh smashed FC Mills 7-0. Josh Russell (2) and Tom Radburn also got on the score sheet.

West Witney beat Carterton Pumas 2-1. Kev Lewis and Chris Hirons scored for the hosts with Matthew Mills netting for unlucky Pumas.

AC Finstock’s woes continue as they faced went into the game against Witney Royals without a recognised goal keeper. The result showed as they were despatched from the competition 10-2.Gary Nicholson bagged a 5-goal haul with Loz Prior nabbing a hat trick. Matty Thompson and Liam Readhead completed the rout with Andrew Jackson’s and James Overton‘s goals being Finstock’s only consolation.

Minster Lovell are in the hat for the third round after coming from behind at half time to beat Bloxham 5-4 . Nathan Harris (2), Jason Blackman, Steven Burke and Robert Hipkin all scored.

Eynsham SSC beat Mason’s Arms 3-1. Dan Clifford, Connor McMahon and John Ayres scored the goals.

Dan Hall grabbed a hat trick in Carterton Rangers 6-0 win over Fairview. James Barker, Billy Hales, and James Dover all got on the score sheet.

Ian Steele, Joey King and Dean Mays all found the back of the net for Hailey during their 3-1 win over Original Swan.

Matt Sweirgon bagged a brace in Spartan Rangers 3-1 win over Chase Park. Jamie Timms scored the other goal.

Hanborough also secured their passage to the next round with a comfortable 4-1 win over Tetsworth. The goals came from Tom Lewis, Aston Leach, Dam Smith and Paul Rose.

Union Street went down 5-0 to Carterton Town A. The visitors scored though Luke Simmonds (2), Mike Bolt, Chris MacNeil and Jason Lonsdale.

Witney & District sides that won’t be gracing the third round include Combe who went down 3-2 to Deddington. Peter Searle and Simon Baker with the goals.

Tower Hill also put in a good performance in blustery conditions but eventually lost 7-3 Souldern. Luke James, Ian Wright’s goals were accompanied by a Souldern Own Goal.

Wootton went down 5-1 to Wroxton Sports. Charlie Bough was on target for the vanquished hosts.

Division One
The points were shared in the local derby between Hanborough and Freeland as they drew 3-3. Scott Akers (2) and Tom Kernahan scored for hosts Boro’ with Ady Williams, Loyd Little and Bruno Chaves levelling the tie in the bottom of the table clash.

Division Two
Witney Royals Reserves are still without a point as they were thrashed 10-4 by Ducklington Reserves. Ryan Oliver picked up 4 goals in the rout with, Jason Hirschfield getting a hat trick. Gary Williams, Aiden Foard and Ben Jackson got the other while Andre Partlett and Mikey Piper each bagged a brace in reply for Royals.

Division Three
Minster Lovell Reserves stay top after an edgy 5-3 win over Brize Norton Reserves. Veteran Craig Sallis bagged a rare hat trick in the win with Nathan Bowles and James Hearn getting the others. Cieran Clarke (2) and Chris Cope sored for Brize.

It took a solitary Dan Sollis goal to settle the tie between Carterton Town B and Kingham Reserves with the hosts earning a 1-0 win.

Jason King scored 4 in Spartan Rangers Reserves 6-0 win over bottom side Charlbury Town Reserves. Alex Thompson and Joel Spalding also got in on the act with a goal a-piece.

Chipping Norton beat Ducklington A 3-1. Chris Byford, Sam Philpot, Rob Coombes scored for the hosts with Matt Hummer getting one back for the visitors.

Division Four
Division Four provided the shock results of the weekend with the teams at the bottom of the table, all picking up points.

Chadlington Reserves earned the hardest point as they held hosts and division leaders Spartan Rangers A to a 1-1 draw. Tom Merchant scored for Spartan with Tony Law netting for Chad.

Wychwood Forest also earned a point, after drawing 2-2 with Eynsham SSC Reserves. Paul Townsend and Ben Powell scored for Wychwood with Lee Parsons and Dan Harwood netting for the visitors.

Bampton United also picked up a surprise 3 points beating FC Hollybush Reserves 3-2. Stuart Robinson (2) and Tom Madden were on target for the visitors after the hosts had scored through Tristan Taylor and a Lee Brown wonder strike.

Corinthians despatched Wootton Reserves 5-2. The goal were shared amongst Frank Webb, Dan Smith, Graham Cuidiskis, Karl Indge and Dan Hackett with Greg Finnemore and Fraser Scott netting for Wootton.
