Match Reports - Week 9

OFA Junior Shield
Teams from the Witney & District faced sides from other Oxfordshire leagues in the OFA Junior Shield on Saturday with a respectable amount making it through to the Third Round.

Carterton A overcame Chesterton 2-1 with goals from Dan Sollis and Chris Souldern, whilst Hanborough beat Chadlington 4-1. Two goals from Joe Burgess and strikes from Dan Smith and Aston Leach settled the tie, with Steven Hunt replying for hosts, Chad.

Steven Burke grabbed a hat trick in Minster Lovell’s 6-4 win over Hanwell. The match exploded into life with Minster taking a 5-4 half time lead. Nathan Harris Eddie Dunn and Scott Thompson got the other goals seeing the hosts through to the next round.

Two strikes from Kevin Davies helped West Witney to a 5-0 win over Banbury Rangers. Dan Brierly, Tom Perry and Carl Roberts got the others.

Middle Barton saw off Wroxton Sports with a 6-1 defeat of their hosts. Jack Fowler (2), Shaun Millar, Ashley Scearce, Josh Heartshorne and Dimitri Harris weighed in with the goals.

Jamie Kennedy grabbed a hat trick in Witney Royals 7-1 win over Banbury Town Youth. Matt Thompson also scored twice with Will Griffiths and Luke Rippington completing the rout.

Aston defeated fellow W&D members Freeland 4-2. Aston raced to a 4-1 half time lead with goals from Matt Smith (2), Ryan Hewer and Matt Brown. The hosts came close to leveling the tie with goals from Alex Rendell, Scott Greening and Adrian Williams but it was not enough.

Chipping Norton brushed aside FC Mills 6-0. Warwick Thompkins grabbed a four-timer with Arrun Withan and Rhys Warner-Carter getting the others.

Hailey put their poor league for aside to beat Wootton 5-0. Dave Cross (2), Jack Bennett, Craig Mays and Mark Wright grabbed the goals.

It took penalties to separate Brize Norton and Carterton Rangers after they drew 2-2 at full time. Dan Frizzell and Pawel Bronk scored for the hosts with Craig Williams and Chris Smith netting for the visitors. The shoot-out ended 4-3 in favour of Brize.

FC Nomads also needed penalties to secure their passage to the next round. They hosted visitors Tackley and were drawing 2-2 after 12- minutes. Chris Lawrence and Jack Costar scored for Nomads with Paul Gray and Dan Woodley replying for Tackley. However the hosts held their nerve from the spot winning the shoot-out 3-0.

Charlbury Town brush aside Stanton Harcourt 5-0. Craig McCallum grabbed a hat trick as Gareth Benfield and Mark Goode got the others.

Bampton Town edged past Combe, beating them 3-2. Steve Caton, Adam Leigh and Jack Goodchild scored the winning goals with Jamie Fisher and Simon Gale scoring for Combe.

Those that didn’t fare so well were Ducklington who went down 1-0 to Slade Farm Park. Spartan Rangers and Kingham AB were also knocked out by the same score line to Wroxton Heath and Heyford United respectively.

Tom Gregory scored both goals for the visitors as Witney Wanderers lost 3-2 to Fairview, whilst on the neighbouring pitch, 10-man FC Hollybush went down 7-1 to St Clements, despite taking the lead with a Tom Coppinger goal.

Division One
Hailey Reserves picked up their second win of the season with a 5-3 win over Hanborough Reserves. The hosts scored through Tom Gonzales (2), Dan King, Mo Semlali and Stuart Morrison. Ryan Sollis, Joe Leach and an own goal weren’t quite enough to give Boro’ a share of the points.

Division Two
West Witney dropped their first points of the season as they were held to a 1-1 draw by second placed Eynsham SSC. Mike Barber put the hosts ahead with Mark Haydon leveling in the second half.

North Leigh B beat Witney Royals Reserves 5-2. Dan Paintin scored both for the hosts but goals from Darren Tasker, Scott Brown and Ian Radburn settled the tie.

Carterton Pumas went down 2-1 to Milton with goals from Ally Laing and Jim Rawlings. Steve Harris scored the goal for Pumas.

Division Three
Ollie Bush grabbed four-goal-haul in Carterton B’s 6-1 thrashing of Minster Lovell Reserves. Mark Hawkins and Adam Harris scored the others with James Hurn replying for Minster.

Aston Reserves notched their first win of the season, beating Brize Norton Reserves 2-1. Ollie Puddle scored for the visitors but goals from Brendan Chalk and Dan Isherwood secured the points.

Spartan Rangers Reserves are still without a point as they went down 3-1 to Chipping Norton Town Reserves. Paul Saunders scored for the hosts but Jarvis Morley, George Dean and Scott Warner were all on target for Chippy, earning them the win.

Division Four
Corinthians bounced back from last week’s defeat to beat previously unbeaten Bourton Rovers 5-2. Jake Oakey and Rob Curtis scored for the hosts but a brace each from Frank Webb and Darren Mobey and a strike from Rob James secured the points,

Scott Mason scored a hat trick in Ducklington A’s 8-0 mauling of Eynsham SSC Reserves. Jamie Saverton, Ben Jackson, Josh Hartley, Arrun Gibbon and Omar Semlali all found the back of the net.

Wychwood Forest beat Chadlington Reserves 7-1. Paul Townsend and Ben Powell each scored a hat trick with Simon Gibbs getting the other. Chris Hickman replied in vain for Chad.

Dave Cooper also bagged a hat trick in FC Hollybush’s 6-2 win over Milton Reserves. Darren Aston, Dale Cox and Dean Spivey were also on the score sheet with Arrun Baker and Zak Jarvis replying for Milton.

Kingham AB took all three points in their encounter with Spartan Rangers A. Liam Barnes, Ed Webb and Frazer Duffield were all on target for the hosts with Mick Crozier getting one back for Spartan.
