Friday 8th April
Jack Busby Final

Carterton Town B defeated Hailey Res 3-0 in the Jack Busby Cup Final to complete a league and cup double for the second season in succession.

Playing down the slope Carterton dominated the early proceedings but were wasteful in front of goal. They eventually took the lead, when man of the match Lee Beer, took possession of a loose ball, looked up and let fly from 30 yards and the ball flew past Steve Lazarus in the Hailey goal.

Beer then turned provider sending over a fine cross which Olly Bush turned in. Bush should have made the game safe a few minutes later but somehow he turned over a ball from 8 yards when it was easier to score. However he made amends with 10 minutes left when he fired home through a crowded penalty area.

Hailey's best chance came in injury time, when Tom Gonzales lobbed the keeper but the ball was headed off the line.

Premier Division
The battle for the Premier Division title took an unexpected twist on Saturday as favourites, West Witney, currently in third, but with games in hand suffered only their second loss of the season. The result wasn’t the only thing to raise eyebrows, as they found themselves on the wrong end of an 8-3 score line against Chipping Norton Town. The hosts scored through Mike Duerden, Simon Thompson and Tony McLemen, however a glut of fist half goals for Chippy put them in a commanding position thanks in the most part to a four timer from Rhys Warner-Carter. Dan Bott also scored twice with Dean Blake and Kieran Watts getting the others.

Leaders Carterton did all they could to ensure their 3 point lead remained in tact. A 2-0 win over Hailey secured their 3 points with Mike Bolt and Carl Williams getting on the score sheet.

The other side threatened with relegation, Ducklington, suffered their tenth defeat this campaign after Charlbury Town recorded a 3-0 win. A Craig McCallum brace accompanied an own goal to earn them all three points.

Division One
After securing promotion to the Premier Division last week, it was a case of ‘After The Lord Mayors Show’ as Division One leaders, Eynsham SSC could only draw with Carterton Rangers. Eynsham scored through Dan King and Rangers, who are vying for a promotion place themselves netted through Stephen Reed.

While second placed Kirtlington are out of the running for the title, they are still in good stead for a promotion place after their latest win, a 3-0 defeat of Chadlington. Jake East (2) and Nathan Kelly with the goals.

With their relegation confirmed last week, FC Mills found themselves with only pride to play for. However it was to their detriment that they faced Wychwood Forest side, still reeling from last weeks’ defeat to Witney Royals Reserves. Forest duly handed out a 7-0 mauling to Mills with Steve Harris (3), Ryan Clements (2), Callum Kirk and Tom Cartmell all getting on the score sheet.

In their final game of the campaign, Witney Royals Reserves secured their Division Three status with a 1-0 win over now, prime relegation candidates, Bampton United Reserves. Josh Taylor with the only goal of the game.

The points were shared at Wootton where the hosts, drew 3-3 with Middle Barton. Jon Holder (2) and Rob Alexander scored for the hosts with John Umney, Jack Eley and Owen Hunt finding the back of the net for the visitors.

Second placed FC Hollybush Reserves missed the chance to take top spot after they were also held to a draw by fellow promotion hopefuls Aston Reserves. The visitors took a share of the spoils courtesy of a Sam Duthie penalty, after Dan Hedge had given Hollybush the lead.

Combe Reserves handed out a 9-2 demolition of Chadlington Reserves with Tom Madden and Charlie Ibbotsen each grabbing a hat trick. Dan Taylor, Angus Ibbotson and Dan Troth all got on the score sheet. Charlie White and Josh Vaughan replied in vain for Chad.

Michael Steers scored a hat trick in Wootton Reserves 6-1 defeat of Eynsham SSC Reserves. Darren Mobey pulled one back for the hosts but further goals from Mark Grisbrooke and Karl Gustha put the result beyond doubt.

A single strike from Liam Barnes was enough to earn a 1-0 win for Kingham AB Reserves over Milton Reserves.

Wychwood Forest Reserves went down 5-1 to Brize Norton Reserves with Jason Bufton’s goal for the hosts, their only highlight. Scott Peaper hit home a hat trick for Brize with Chris Mayhew and Jamie Hutchins getting the others.
