The finalists of the Jack Busby Memorial Trophy were confirmed on Thursday night with both semi-finals being decided in 90 minutes. Luke Simmons opened the scoring for Carterton then Dan Sollis added twice before Olly Bush completed the score line. Charlie Harper scored Spartan’s Consolation goal.

In the other semi, an early Bradley Empson own goal and an Ian Steele strike was enough to see Division one strugglers, Hailey Reserves through against high flying Charlbury Town Reserves of Division Four for whom Matt Cox scored.

Witney & District Supplementary Cup 15-16 - Quarter Final
The midweek matches also saw Wychwood Forest cruise through to the semi-final of the Supplementary Cup after their 3-0 defeat of Tower Hill Stars. Phil Gair and Tom Cairns were among the scorers.

Premier Division
Carterton Town A reclaimed top spot from Bourton Rovers after their 3-1 win over bottom placed Minster Lovell. The visitors gave a good account of themselves however, eventually succumbed to a Carl Williams double and a strike from Chris MacNeil. Gary Mitchell pulled on back in vain for the visitors.

In the relegation mire, Witney Royals pulled clear of the drop zone courtesy of a 4-1 win over hosts, Ducklington, Yassin Elouahabi scored for Duck but a brace from Matt Thompson and goals from Ryan Colleton and James O’Sullivan confirmed the result. Duck remain 4 points from safety having played a game more.

Hailey remain 4 points off the drop zone after they went down 3-2 to Chipping Norton Town. Mo Semlali and Luke Manning were on target for the hosts but goals from Dan Kirby, Rhys Warner-Carter and Shaun Collins earned all three points for the visitors.

Matt Baker (2), Matt Currill and Ollie Mogan-Bellamy were all on target in Combe’s 4-0 win over neighbouring Hanborough.

Division One
Barring an unlikely capitulation, Eynsham SSC remain clear favourites for the Division One title after picking up their latest 3 points courtesy of a 7-0 thrashing of Brize Norton. John Ayres re-found his scoring touch and banged in a hat trick with Dan King (2) and Dave Primhak getting the others.

The battle for the second place is hotting-up after an interesting weekend of results. Stonesfield continued their roll as title spoilers after taking yet more points off a promotion chasing side. They followed up last weeks’ 1-0 defeat of Kirtlington with a win over Spartan Rangers by the same score line. Nick Clarke scored for the hosts.

Carterton Rangers failed to take Spartan’s third place spot after they were defeated 2-1 by Hollybush, who are now level on points with their opponents in fifth. Jonny Dover scored for Rangers but a brace from Jack Robinson earned the win for the Bush.

North Leigh A pulled further away from the relegation zone after their narrow 3-2 win over Hailey Reserves. Joey Aust, Nathan Kimber and Lee Moseley were all on target for the hosts with Rob Styles and Mark Orpwood replying for Hailey.

Division Two
The Division Two table looks no different after only two games at the weekend. Chipping Norton Town Reserves went down 4-2 to Moreton Rangers. Manuel Cortes and Rocky Burton scored for the hosts but a brace a piece from David Toon and Callum Peters settled the tie in the visitors favour.

It was honours even at the Leys where Spartan Rangers Reserves drew 1-1 with FC Nomads. Arron White and Chris Laurence scored for Spartan and Nomads respectively.

Division Three
It was top versus bottom as Tower Hill visited FC Mills and ended with a relatively low score line. Jamie Goodwin re-found his scoring touch with a hat trick in the 6-0 win for the Division Three leaders. Elliot Graham, Luke Bolley and Jack Simpson added others.

However the result of the day came as a reborn Bourton Rovers Reserves put in their performance of the season to beat previously high flying Eynsham A. Chris Hughes scored twice for the hosts (once from the spot) and Lee Mosson added the third to pick up all three points.

Division Four
Charlbury Town Reserves closed the gap on leaders FC Hollybush after their 4-1 win over Eynsham SSC Reserves. Shaun Godfrey, Steve Fitzgerald, Daryl Porter and Sam Cleaver shared the goals amongst themselves with Lee Parsons replying for Eynsham.

Aston Reserves youngster, Reece Waine was the star of the show hitting a hat trick in Aston’s 3-2 win over Kingham AB Reserves. Olly Peters and Jake Godfrey replied for Kingham.

Charlie White scored yet again for Chadlington Reserves but it was not enough as they went down 2-1 to Milton Reserves. Stephen Hocknell and Jim Rawlins scored the winning goals for the visitors.

Jason Hirschfield scored a hat trick in Brize Norton Reserves 4-3 win over Wootton Reserves. Karl Gustha and Michael Steers (2) replied for Wooton but a further strike from Scott Peaper secured all three points for the visitors. The win moves Brize 6 points clear of bottom spot.

Current occupiers of the wooden spoon position Wychwood Forest Reserves picked up their third win of the season after their 2-1 win over Combe Reserves. Alex Everett and Jason Bufton both got on the score sheet for the hosts with Dan Troth scoring Combe’s consolation.
