Match Reports - Week 18

The weather continued to affect the fixture list in the Witney & District this weekend with only a handful of games going ahead.

John Fathers Junior Shield
Carterton Town A moved into the 5th round of the John Fathers Junior Shield after a narrow 2-1 win over Chadlington. Chris MacNeil was on the score sheet with Chad contributing an own goal to Town’s tally. Chad were denied a chance to level the game from the spot after Carterton keeper, Chris Herbert saved a penalty.

Hanborough were knocked out 3-0 by Carterton Rangers with the goals coming from Dan Hall, James Barker and Chris Balfe.

Premier Division
At the top of the division, hosts leaders Chipping Norton Town shared the points with second placed West Witney after drawing 3-3. Rhys Baylis scored twice in the match with Warwick Thompkins getting the other for Chippy. However goals from Shaun Rayfield, Chris Hirons and Alex Stubbs brought parity to the score line.

Division One
The top two also faced each other in Division One with Hailey Reserves visiting Brize Norton. The match resulted in a 1-1 draw with Pawel Bronk and Jacob Hambidge scoring for Brize and Hailey respectively.

Carterton Pumas closed the gap on the top three after beating third placed Bourton Rovers 3-1. Stephane Ternier scored for Bourton but goals from Ashley Davies, Dean Matthews and Darren Davenport settled the tie in favour of the hosts.

Eynsham SSC picked up another 3 points after despatching bottom placed Hanborough Reserves 4-1. John Ayres and Matt Walker each bagged a brace with Tom Kernaghan scoring for Boro’.

North Leigh beat Freeland by the same 4-1 score line. Josh Russell (2), Max Goodwin and Paul O’Hare scored for the visitors with Tom Matthews netting for the hsots.

FC Nomads slipped a little closer to the drop zone after going down 2-1 to Kingham. Gareth Price and Dom Hemmings scored the telling goals for Kingham.

Division Two
Kirtlington returned to the top of Division Two after a 3-0 win over basement boys, Witney Royals Reserves. Sam Bodinham, Callum Emmett and Sam Wheeler scored the goals that takes Kirtlington 3 points clear at the top.

Division Three
Brize Norton Reserves edged away from the drop zone after thrashing Bourton Rovers Reserves 8-1. Richard Duffy scored a hat trick with Scott Peaper (2), Cieran Clarke, Shaun Rawlings and Ollie Puddle getting the others.

Carterton Town B edged a narrow win over Spartan Rangers Reserves 1-0 with Lee Manley getting the games only goal.
Charlbury Town Reserves however, remain rooted to the foot of the table after going down 6-2 to Bampton United. Dom Crisp and Mark Clements scored for the hosts but a four goal haul for Nathan Beckett and a double from Dan Oyston settled the tie.
