Match Reports - Week 14

Premier Division
In the days only Premier Division match, runaway leaders Carterton Town A narrowly overcame hosts Minster Lovell in a match that finished 3-2. Luke French and Edd Dunn got themselves on the score sheet for Minster but goals from Jason Lonsdale (2) and Chris Macneill stretched Town’s lead at the top to 12 points.

Division One
Bourton Rovers moved level on points at the top of Division One with leaders Spartan Rangers courtesy of a 3-1 win over Eynsham SSC. Sam Mattock (2) and Adam Webley were on target for the hosts with John Griffiths pulling one back for Eynsham.

Tim Stiddard and Arron Hyatt both scored for FC Hollybush who lost 3-2 to Hailey Reserves. The visitors took all three points courtesy of goals from Mo Semlali, Ian Steel and John Andrews.

Division Two
In a potentially promotion deciding game, leaders Stonesfield came out on top in their tie with third placed Kirtlington. The hosts were steam-rollered and went down 5-1 with Matthew Tarry (2) Jordan Newman, Chris Jordan and Pete Searle all getting on the score sheet. Frank Harrison replied in vain for the hosts.

Carterton Town B lost ground on leaders Stonesfield after a shock 2-2 draw with strugglers Enstone. Town will rue missed chances as Chris Jones and Dan Sollis’ strikes were two of many chances created. Lukea Rizkalie bagged both goals for Enstone who will be much happier with the point that took them out of the bottom two zone for the first time this season.

Division Three
Ducklington A looked to consolidate their position at the top of Division Three after a thrilling 6-4 win over fellow title chasers Tower Hill. Lewis Bartlett (2), Leon Richards, Jamie Hopkins, Luke Bolley and Jack Scott all found the back of the net for the hosts. Luke James, Jamie Goodwin, Ian Wright and Leigh Smith all hit back for Tower Hill but it was not enough to snatch a point.

Spartan Rangers were dealt a blow to their title hopes as they suffered a second defeat of the season. Hosts Chipping Norton Town beat Spartan 2-1 with the telling goals coming from Matt Chadwick and Clayton Foster. Omar Semlali replied for Spartan.

Brize Norton Reserves gave their survival hopes another boon with a 4-1 win over form-side, Minser Lovell Reserves. First team hot shot Pawel Bronk helped the hosts out with a brace with Richard Duffy and Scott Peaper also netting. Charlie McCulloch pulled one back in vain for Minster.

Frank Webb smashed in a blistering 6 goals in Corinthians 9-0 thrashing of Witney Royals Reserves in a match that was excellently refereed. Webb, who opened the scoring in the first minute completed a first half hat trick and doubled that later in the second half, with additional goals from Dan Smith, Luke Hessey and Harry Puffitt.

The points were shared at Wootton where the hosts drew 2-2 with Middle Barton. 16 year old James Smith opened the scoring for Middle Barton with his first goal in mends football. George Wood added to Middle Barton’s tally but goals from Graham Berry and Ryan Weston for the hosts ensured both teams took a share of the spoils.

Division Four
Charlbury Town Reserves are now 4 points off third place after delivering an 8-1 demolition to third-placed side, Spartan A.

Will Graham bagged yet another brace as second placed and promotion candidates Tower Hill Reserves narrowly beat Chadlington Reserves 2-1.

Wychwood Forests good run came to an end after they went down 2-1 to Eynsham SSC Reserves. John Wood scored for the hosts with Dan Harwood and Lee Parsons netting for Eynsham.

Kingham Reserves drew with Wootton Reserves 2-2. Jake Hazelwood and John Holder scroed twice for Kingham and Wootton respectively.

Jack Busby Cup
Milton Reserves were knocked our 4-3 by Bourton Rovers Reserves as the visitors earned their first win in all competitions this season. Paul Townsend, Stephen Pearce and Andy Barnes were all on target for Milton but goals from Keegan Bowes (2), Ross Grant-Smith and Tom Rolfe saw Bourton through to the next round.

Junior Shield
FC Nomads put in a fine performance away to Chacombe picking up a 5-2 win and passage to the fourth round of the Junior Shield. David Pryse (2), Steve Bircher, Dave Hurp and Josh Truby were all also on target.

Chris Smith was on target for Carterton Town as they were knocked out of the Junior Shield, 2-1 by Chipping Norton Town. Andy Mcabe and Warwick Thompkins scored the goals that saw the visitors through to the next round.

Matt Knibbs scored the only goal of the game as West Witney saw off Deddington 1-0.

All the goals came in the first 15 minutes as Ducklington saw off Witney Wanderers 2-1. Jack Morton struck twice to give the hosts a 2-1 win over Witney Wanderers with James Basson replying for Witney Wanderers

Spartan Rangers went out 3-2 to Steeple Aston with Matt Howard’s and Josh Grant’s goals proving not quite enough .

Graham Carter and Warren Austin’s goals saw Aston through to the next round after a 2-1 win over Wheatley.

Craig McCallum bagged a brace in Charlbury’s 4-1 win over Milton. Further goals from Nick Acock and Tony Bolt put he hosts in the draw for the next round with Toby Case scoring Milton’s consolation goal.

Luke Manning picked up a 5-goal haul as Hailey blew aside Fairview 9-1 in their Third Round tie. Dean Mays (2), Mark Wright and Russell Steele also found the back of the net.

Witney Royals went down 2-0 to Blackbird Rovers.
