Match Reports - Week 2

Premier Division

West Witney made it two wins from two games as they hammered Spartan Rangers 5-0. Kevin Lewis scored twice with the other goals coming from Chris Hirons, Dan King and Carl Dodds.

Chipping Norton also maintained their winning streak with, as some might suggest, a shock 2-1 win over champions Hailey. Craig Mays scored for the hosts, but goals from Reece Warner-Carter and Mark Corbett gave all three points to the visitors.

Chris Zoldan bagged a brace in Carterton A’s 2-2 draw with North Leigh. Craig Greenhalgh and Jason Blackman replied for the visitors.

Charlbury Town and Ducklington shared the points after a 2-2 draw. Duncan Fitzgerald scored both goals for Charlbury with Ben Hutter and Ryan Colleton scoring for Duck.

Division One
Stanton Harcourt continued their booming start to the season with a 3-1 win over Kingham. Dom Hemming scored for the hosts, but goals for Jake Willis, George Woodcock and Dan Smith ensure the visitors took all three points.

Aston also made it two wins from two with a 2-1 win over Hailey. Kevin Alcraft and Ryan Hewer scored for the hosts with Mo Semlali netting for the visitors.

Chadlington got their season off to a good start with a 6-1 win over Brize Norton on their return to the W&D League. Martin Plumbridge and George Slatter each scored a brace with Dan Murphy and Mark Sheffield getting the others.

FC Mills went down 3-1 to Hanborough Reserves. Dan Smith (2) and Ryan Sollis scored for Boro’ with Jordan Hamblin replying for Mills.

The points were shared between FC Nomads and Freeland A as they played out a 2-2 draw. John Woodward and Josh Truby scored for Nomads with Dan Elsworth and Andy Williams scoring for Freeland.

Division Two

John Ayres returned to form with 4 of Eynsham SSC’s 5 in their 5-1 win over Charlbury Town Reserves. Jamie Merry hit the other with Mark Dellar scoring Charlbury’s consolation.

West Witney Reserves got off to a winning start with a 3-1 victory over Middle Barton. The hosts scored in the first half through Nick Pickup, but goals from Mark Haydon (2) and a returning Matt Townsend settled the tie.

David Jeynes scored a hat trick in Milton’s 5-1 mauling of Ducklington Reserves. Lee Hillary and Steve Hocknell scored the others for Milton with Gary Brooks replying in vain for Duck.

Tom Townsend and Justin Keyani scored the goals in North leigh B’s 2-0 win over Bampton Town.

Witney Wanderers narrowly lost out as they went down 3-2 to Combe. Bernie Crumlish and Sam King gave the hosts the led but Combe snatched the points with goals from James McLaughlin (2), and Jamie Fisher.

Division Three
Carterton Rangers opened their seasons account with a sound 11-0 thrashing of Spartan Rangers Reserves. Tom Clapham and Billy Hales both scored a hat-trick with the other goals shared amongst, Tom Poole, Craig Williams, Stefan Reed, John Dover and James Barker.

FC Hollybush got off to a flying start with a comfortable 8-0 thrashing of Wootton. Lee Travers and Joe Hatt each grabbed a hat-trick, with Dan Tasker and Arrun Hyatt completing the rout.

Keiron Watts bagged a hat-trick in Chipping Norton Reserves 7-1 win over Brize Norton Reserves. Sam Philpott (2), Danny Soper and Steven Gilbert got the others with Scorr Peaper hitting Brize’s lone reply.

New boys Kirtlington took a point from their 3-3 draw with Carterton B. Ryan Moran-Ross (2) and Andy Gillespie scored for the hosts with Oliie Bush, John White and an own goal contributing to the visitors tally.

The points were also shared at Tackley as the hosts drew 1-1 with Freeland B. Paul Defraitis and Jack Rubenstein scored for Tackley and Freeland respectively.

Arrun Mullis scored twice in Minster Lovell Reserves 3-0 win over Aston Reserves. Adam Bennett got the third.

Division Four
Nathan Beckett scored a hat-trick in Bampton United’s 5-3 win over Corinthians. Conor Kelly and Jack Henry got the others. Dave Meredith (2) and Darren Mobey hit back for the visitors but it was not enough.

Ducklington B beat Milton Reserves 5-2 whilst sharing the goals amongst Josh Hartley, Ben Jackson, Aidan Forde, Scott Mason and Andy Forde. Chris Souch and Ben Schofield replied for Milton.

Wychwood Forest bounced back from last weeks defeat to beat Eynsham SSC Reserves 3-0. There were goals for Liam Gough (2) and Ben Powell.

FC Hollybush Reserves first game in the Witney & District ended in a 4-1 defeat to league new-comers Bourton Rovers. Dale Cox put the hosts ahead in the opening minute, but a hat-trick from playmaker, Matt Winter turned the tide with Charlie Binton getting the other.

Witney Royals A beat Kingham AB Reserves 2-1. Matthew Thompson and Dan Hall scored the goals with Craig Smith replying for Kingham.

Greystones and Spartan Rangers A played out an epic 5-5 draw. The drawing only 1-1 at the break, the floodgates opened up in the second half. Scott Dunn (2), Clayton Foster and Mike Saunders were amongst the goals for Greystones with Mikey Cosier (2), Steve Thomas (2) and Jose Castro scoring for Spartan.
