Witney & District Football Reports - Week 9

Premier Division
Hanborough continued their perfect start to the season and handed FC Hollybush’s their first defeat in the process. A Craig Johnson strike was enough for a 1-0 win over the visitors and moved Boro’ 4 points behind, with 3 games in hand.

Kirtlington are up into fifth after a 5-2 win over Spartan Rangers. Alfie Saunders and Luke Petifer scored for the hosts but goals from Tom Williams (2), Shane Probitts (2) and Alex Metcalfe settled the tie in favour of the visitors.

Hailey picked up another crucial 3 points after a fine 3-1 win over Carterton Town A. Billy Evans scored for Town but goals from Luke Manning, Curtis Hathaway and Tom Gregory secured all three points for Hailey.

Charlie McCullough scored a hat trick in Minster Lovell’s 4-2 win over Combe. Sam Wright grabbed the other with Sam Hibberd and Ethan Penney notching for Combe.

Division One
A 9-1 thrashing of Milton ensured Aston moved to the top of Division One with Ryan Colleton and James Fleming each grabbing a hat trick. Jamie Kennedy (2) and Adam Clarke added the others with Jim Littlewood scoring the consolation for the hosts.

Stonesfield are now in third after a 3-2 defeat of Tower Hill Stars. Mike Phipps (2) and David Bartle got the goals with Leigh Travers and Tom Cairns pulling two back.

Bampton United are still without a point in 5 games after they went down 4-3 to hosts Chadlington. Matt Chadwick and Jarvis Morley each scored a brace to secure the points although goals from Conor O'Shea, Nath Beckett and Sid Ashley pushed them close.

Division Two
Charlbury Town Reserves maintained their lead at the top od Division Two with a 2-1 win over Aston Reserves. Reece Wain scored for the visitors but a Michael Hayes double saw the hosts emerge victorious.

John Umney (2) and Jack Fowler were on target in Middle Barton’s 3-0 win over Brize Norton keeping the hosts second in the Division.

Bletchington ran out 3-1 winners against Hanborough Reserves with Joe Goodgame, Danny Evans and Richard Wells all getting on the score sheet. Herbie Hamilton pulled one back for Boro’.

Hailey Reserves went down 5-0 to Bourton Rovers with the goals shared out equally amongst Max Salf, Lee Mosson, Harry Larner, Josh Hubbard and Keelan Gilbert.

A single Callum Hampson goal was enough to give Spartan Rangers a 1-0 win and all three points away to Moreton Rangers.

Division Three
It’s as you were at the top of Division Three as the leaders all picked up maximum points. FC Hollybush Reserves narrowly beat struggling Combe Reserves 3-2. Dael Campbell scored a hat-trick in the win to see off the visitors for whom Jack Morgan and Ian Law scored.

Minster Lovell Reserves are second, only by goal difference after handing out an 8-1 mauling to Bourton Rovers Reserves. Russel Whitlock and Rui Alves scored twice with Ben Jackson, Alex Coutts, Luke Hessey and Gary Mitchell getting the others. Dan O’Driscoll’s goal for Bourton was scant consolation.

Siege FC remain third after a 4-2 win over fourth placed Corinthians. Adam Maskery, Rob Marsh. Connor Harrison and Karl Dodds all found the back of the net with Harry Purfitt and Frank Webb pulling two back for the visitors.

Wootton kept their 100% record in tact after a 4-1 win over Chipping Norton Town Reserves. Jack Knight scored for the hosts but a Jack Spence hat-trick and a strike form Michael Steers put the result beyond doubt.

The points were shared at Ducklington where the hosts drew 5-5 with Witney Royals Reserves. Both sides felt that they should have had more from the game as the visitors came from 4-1 with 20 minutes to go to earned a share of the spoils. Courage Nyenya, Dan Stanley, Jack Meagher, Sam Doherty and Fabio Fernandez were all on the score sheet for Duck with Mikey Piper (2), Ollie Nolan, Dan Townsend and Jamie Goodwin bringing parity to the score line for Royals.

Division Four
Bletchington Reserves missed the chance to go top of Division Four after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Eynsham SSC Reserves. Andy Stratford scored twice for Eynsham with Dan Willoughby and Barney Smith netting for Bletch.

Brize Norton Reserves took all three points after their narrow 3-2 win over Bampton Utd Reserves. Jordan Ford and Leigh Clements scored for the hosts but goals from Leo McLoughlin, Ciaran Clarke and Danny Claridge secured the points for Brize.

FC Ascott Reserves went down 4-3 to Carterton Town B. Will Coles (2) and Ben Harris were on target for the hosts but a Jake Finnemore hat-trick and one from Jack Gibson meant that Carterton emerged victorious.

Scott Mason and Sam Quinn were on target for Spartan Rangers A in their sides 3-2 defeat against Chadlington Reserves. Ollie Jordan, Alfie Peachey and Matt Waller all found the back of the net for Chad.

Elliot Higgins scored a hat-trick for Wootton Reserves in their 5-0 win over Stonesfield Reserves. Mark Mumford and Jacob Cooke scored the other two.
