Fred Ford Cup 17-18 – Round 3

Saturday November 11th 2017. Clubs throughout West Oxfordshire joined together in a mark of respect for those who did not return from The Great War. The solemn occasion was marked with a minutes silence before kick-off around the grounds.

With football in perspective, FC Hollybush carried out their business as usual. Their excellent league form mirrored in the cups as they thrashed FC Nomads 12-0. The hosts drew a blank, but Craig Mays and Michael Duerden had no such trouble finding the net, each of them banging in a hat trick. The rest of the goals were shared equally amongst Jacob Hughes, Bradley Bryant, Josh Grant, Matt Howard, Jamie Stalker and Olly Oswin.

Kirtlington couldn’t rely on their indifferent league form, however still produced the goods, knocking out Chipping Norton Town 5-2 to advance to the next round.
Dan Bott scored twice for the hosts but goals from Ally Broome, Jake East, Nathan Kelly, Shane Probitts and Tom Williams secured the points for the visitors.

Premier side Hailey ran out 5-1 winners over the visiting Kingham AB from Division One. Luke Manning scored two with Jack Wood, Curtis Hathaway and Tom Gregory getting the others. Ryan Barrass scored the lone reply for Kingham.

Hanborough continued their winning streak into the cup with a 4-2 win over Division One outfit, Witney Royals. Jack Morton scored two with Craig Johnson and Dan Haggie also getting on the score sheet. Dave Cross and Redd Pratley scored goals for Royals.

Despite Royals’ exit, Division One will be represented in the next round after Stonesfield saw off Middle Barton from the Division below. Raffy Rice and Lewis Colwell were on target for the hosts with Tony Bott pulling one back for the vanquished visitors.

Jack Busby Memorial Trophy 17-18 – Round Two
Combe Reserves eased their way into round three after an 8-2 demolition of Siege Reserves FC. The goals were shared amongst Kyle Page (2), Jack Morgan (2), Joe Wick, Dan Taylor, Leon Richards and Mark Minchin.

Adrian Williams scored all four of Kingham All Blacks Reserves’ goals as they knocked out Milton Reserves 4-2. Dan Hooton and Lewis Ford did manage to pull two back however.

Premier Division
In a fierce local derby it was the home side, Carterton Town A who ran out 6-2 winners against rivals Carterton Rangers. Ben Pearce and a Billy Evans own goal registered for Rangers but a hat trick from Steve Harries and further strikes from Olly Bush, Wes Christian and Connor Kelly secured the win.

Combe remain rooted to the foot of the table after yet another defeat. This time a narrow 3-2 loss to hosts Spartan Rangers was their undoing. Charlie Harper (2) and Luke Pettifer both found the back of the net for Spartan with Emmaniel Ogunbiyi and Callum Surrage nearly rescuing a point for Combe.

Division One
Aston opened up a gap at the top of Division One this weekend after a sound 10-2 thrashing of Bampton United. Jake Pritchard scored both goals for the hosts but Ryan Lewis and Ryan Colleton each grabbed a hat trick for Aston. Warren Austin, Nick Angus, James Fleming and Vince Evans also found the back of the net, completing the rout for the visitors.

Milton moved level on points with their opponents after a narrow 2-1 win over Eynsham SSC. Stephen Hocknell and Dan Kietley were on target for Milton with Max Hazell getting Eynsham’s only goal.

Division Two
Division Two leaders Charlbury Town Reserves suffered their third defeat of the season. It’s not unusual as they’d previously lost two others. However this time around, Tom Jones helped himself to a goal which was enough to earn Hailey Reserves a 1-0 win.

Moreton Rangers and Bourton Rovers settled for a point each as they drew 2-2. Liam Nimmo and Robbie Shurmer found the back of the net for the hosts with and Adam Webley brace levelling things up for Bourton.

Reece Wain scored a hat trick in Aston Reserves 5-2 win over Spartan Rangers Reserves. Matt Wood and Matt Smith bagged the others as Matt Townsend replied for Spartan.

Witney Wanderers climbed out of the relegation zone after a fine 3-2 over hosts, Brize Norton./ Rob Hook and Richard Duffy scored for Brize but goals from Ben Border, Marc Jackson and Bernie Crumlish earned all three points for Wanderers.

Division Three
Minster Lovell remain 3 points clear at the top of Division Three after a 3-1 win over FC Mills. Anthony Bickford scored for the hosts but goals from Craig Sallis, Rui Alves and Russel Whitlock secured the points for Minster.

FC Hollybush Reserves keep pace with the leaders after a 5-2 win over Wootton. Chris Hirons (2), Richard Williams, Dan Brearly and Kev Buckingham were all on target in the win with Karl Guschtscha (2) replying for Wooton.

Siege FC are still within striking distance of the top two after their 4-1 win over Witney Royals Reserves. Karl Dodds, Ben Reardon, Will Griffiths and Sam Thompson all scored for Siege with player manager Josh Taylor netting for Royals.

Corinthians and Bourton Rovers Reserves drew 4-4. Perry Letten (2), Frank Webb and Luke Cuthbert were on target for the hosts with Lee Mosson (2), Josh Odam and Dan O’Driscoll replying for Bourton.

Division Four
Bletchington Reserves remain top of Division Four on goal difference despite going down 2-1 to Stonesfield Reserves; their first defeat of the season. Nigel Taylor scored for the hosts but two goals from Jamie Gardner secured the win for Stonesfield.

Bletchington’s defeat means than Brize Norton Reserves are now level on points with the leaders courtesy of a 2-1 win over Spartan Rangers A. Mev Gundem scored for the hosts but a Gavin Smith goal accompanied an unclaimed own goal to gift the points to the visitors.

Carterton Town B did their league standing and goal difference the world of good after a 10-0 mauling of Eynsham SSC Reserves. The hosts were unable to penetrate the Town defence, and shipped double figures with Dan Chillington, Jordan Finnemore, Ryan Clement and Danny Haining all scoring two. Tom Coppinger and Shay Lowthian getting the others.

Chadlington Reserves beat FC Ascott Rangers 5-3. Charlie White scored a hat trick with Josh Betts getting one of the others. Rangers put through their own net to make it 5, and scored three of their own through Liam Barnes, Aaron Bickley and Alex Everitt.

Wootton Reserves recorder a straight forward 4-0 win over Bampton United Reserves with Theo Flatman grabbing a hat trick. Mark Mumford scored the other.
