Match Reports for Saturday 1st November 2014

Junior Shield
It was a mixed bag of results for Witney & District teams in the junior Shield with just over half making it through to the third round. It was a one-sided affair as Charlbury met Horton, from the Banbury league with the hosts cruising through 7-1. Craig McCallum grabbed a hat trick with Mark Fitzgerald (2), Shaun Gilbert and Mark Goode getting the others.

Rob Watts bagged himself a 5-timer as Milton saw off Souldern 6-4 in their second round match with Watts’ first half hat trick putting the hosts in a commanding lead. The visitors pulled it back to 3-3 before Watts’ added another couple after half time with Leigh Hillary getting the other to see out the tie.

In an all W&D affair, West Witney knocked out fellow Premier League compatriots Carterton Town A courtesy of a 2-0 score line. Strikes from Dan Brierly and Craig Mays were the difference.

It was a slightly easier task for Hailey as they saw off Brize Norton 5-1. Luke Manning scored another hat trick with Joey and Dan King getting the others.

Combe also cruised through 4-1 against Bampton United. Sammy Hancock scored for the hosts but goals from Simon Gale (2), Joe Birchall and Chris Betreen earned the visitors a place in the next round.

Joe Allinson scored a hat trick in Aston’s 4-0 win over Bicester Town Colts. Phil Caswell scored the other.

Witney Wanderers caused a bit of a stir by beating high flying Division Two leaders Stonesfield, 3-2. Daryl John scored twice with Tom Gregory getting the third. Chris Jordan and Marcus Albert replied for Stonesfield.

Spartan Rangers are also through by the same 3-2 score line after seeing off Banbury-based, ABBA Athletic.. Matt Howard (2) and Henry Clarke scored the winning goals.

Matt Jeffries, Andy and Richard McCabe were all on target in Chipping Norton Town’s 3-1 win over Diverse. Hanborough went one better by defeating Chasewell, 4-1. Tom Kernaham (2), Arran Hobley and Rhys Glastonbury all getting on the score sheet.

Chadlington were unfortunately on the wrong end of the same score line as they went down 4-1 to Fairview. Ashley Scearce scored Chad’s only goal.

KEA overturned Minster Lovell 5-2 with Ed Dunne and Nathan Harris scoring Minster’s consolation goals. Justin Timms and Ryan Mastery were on target but also on the losing side as North Leigh went down 4-2 to Union Street.

Tower Hill received a bit of a pasting as they were thumped 8-2 Steeple Aston. Alex Stubbs and Joe Brown scored for the hosts.

It wasn’t much better for Kirtlington as they travelled to Ashton Villa to receive their 8-3 thrashing. Jake East (2) and Lawrence Brook netter for the vanquished W&D side. Finally Sam French scored for Middle Barton as they went down 2-1 to Chalcombe.

Division One
Tom Gonzales bagged a brace in Hailey Reserves 3-1 defeat of FC Nomads. Chris Lawrence scored for the visitors but Jack Wood secured all three points with Hailey’s third.

A single strike from Gaz Price was enough to secure all three points for Kingham in their 1-0 win over FC Hollybush.

Division Two
The big game in Division Two was at the foot of the table as Enstone played hosts to Hanborough Reserves; both looking for their first points of the season. Enstone emerged victorious after a 4-2 defeat of their visitors. Gareth Wessels (2), Levi Matthews-Knight and Lukea Rizkalla found themselves on the score sheet with Chris Clark (2) replying for Boro’.

Further up the table, Ducklington Reserves made light work of FC Mills with a 5-1 win. Perry Tinson and Dave Naworynsky both scored twice with Jamie Austin grabbing the odd goal. James Rogers scored the consolation goal for Mills.

Division Three
Ducklington A stay 5 points clear at the top after their 4-1 win over Witney Royals. Strikes from Lewis Scott, Lewis Bartlett, Jack Scott and a fine goal from Fabio Fernandes proved to be the difference between the side after a Stuart George goal for Royals had earlier given the hosts a glimmer of hope.

Spartan Rangers Reserves thrashed lowly Bourton Rovers Reserves 5-0 with Dave Cross picking up a hat trick. Neil Jackson and Pete Jenkins got the others.

David Souch, Mykel Ryan, Charlie McCulloch and Cody Davis all found the back of the net in Minster Lovell Reserves’ 4-1 win over Brize Norton Reserves for whom Joe Baldwin scored.

Division Four
A Liam Harris goal was enough to give Tower Hill a slim 1-0 win over hosts Wychwood Forest and preserve their 100% record and three-point lead at the top of the Division.

Jordan Lyne, Declan Green, Connor Peacock and Sam Roane all hit the target as second placed Enynsham A beat Charlbury Town Reserves 4-1.

Spartan Rangers A stay third after their narrow 2-1 win over Wootton Reserves. Jon Holder scored for the hosts but goals from Matt Townsend and Craig Isle proved to be the difference.

Jordan Godfrey scored a hat trick in Chadlington Reserves 5-2 win over Aston Reserves. Callum Jeffries and Tom Hemsworth scored the others with Dan Isherwood and Chris Buckland replying for Aston.
