Jack Busby Cup Final - written by John Smyth
Ducklington Res lifted the Jack Busby trophy last night for the first time in their history coming from 2-0 down to beat Hailey Res 3-2 in front of a good crowd at Clanfield.

Duck almost took an early lead when Chris King and Steve Lazarus got in each others way in the Hailey area, but Lazarus managed to prevent the ball going into his own net. Hailey took the lead after 20 mins when Tom Gonzales evaded a couple of tackles and put a great ball into the box which Moh Semlali fired home from close range. At this stage Hailey were dominant and should have doubled the lead when John Andrews was through on goal but his powerful effort was tipped over by Gary Williams. They then had a second goal disallowed just before the break when Andrews was adjudged to have pushed Williams as he headed a ball in.

The opening stages of the 2nd half were mostly played in the middle of the field with neither keeper really being forced to make a save. The game then seemed to swing in Hailey's favour when a cross found the unmarked Semlali and he turned the ball home.

That should really have been game, set and match, but Duck responded in a positive manner and the previously quiet Dave Oliver was put through on goal almost straight from the restart and he calmly slotted past Lazarus. A minute later the scores were level, Duck got a corner and Dave Naworsky's kick was meant by Oliver's meaty forehead and flew into the net. Two minutes later Oliver completed a remarkable turn around when he volleyed home another Naworsky corner.

The final few minutes were played out with very few scares and Duck were able to lift the trophy.

Premier Division
West Witney remain on course to catch Carterton Town A at the top of the Premier Division after a narrow 3-2 win over Charlbury. The hosts found the back of the net through Craig McCallum and Mark Goode but a brace from Carl Williams and a Kevin Davis strike was enough to take all three points. However, they still have a substantial goal difference to claw back if they are to topple Town from top spot.

Ducklington moved out of the bottom two after they picked up 3 points courtesy of a 4-2 win over already relegated Brize Norton. Jack Morton (2), Jamie Austin and Josh Hartley all got on the score sheet for Duck with Dan Frizzell and Richard Duffy scoring for Brize.

Division One
Second placed Combe secured their promotion to the Premier Division courtesy of a seemingly comfortable 3-0 win over FC Nomads. Ethan Penny, Simon Baker and Chris Betreen were all on the score sheet in the win. Combe are still just a point behind leaders Bourton Rovers; also promoted; who have a game in hand. The result is not such good news for Nomads however, who still need to win one of their last two games to avoid the drop.

Spartan Rangers promotion push came to an end as they were undone by strikes from Mo Semlali and Ian Steele in a 2-1 defeat to Hailey Reserves. Dave Cross scored the goal for the hosts.

Jordan Godfrey and Matt Brock scored for Chadlington in their 2-1 win over Kingham, for whom Richard French scored.

Division Two
Carterton Rangers are fighting on two fronts in the home straight of their season. They are trying to make up an 11 point gap on leaders Stonesfield, whilst holding off third placed Kirtlington. They remain on course to grab second spot and earned their latest 3 points after a 4-2 win over Hanborough Reserves. Liam Harris and Aston Leach scored for the host, but goals from Stephan Reed (2), Carl Shirley and Ed Smith settled the tie.

Both Bampton Town United and Ducklington Reserves remain firmly planted in mid table despite Bampton’s 5-2 win over Duck at the weekend. Jake Pritchard, Lloyd Hancock and Tom Thorpe (2), Sam Wright weighed in with goals for the hosts.

FC Mills’ relegation was confirmed un unflattering style as they were hammered 12-0 by Kirtlington. Jake East and Shane Probitts each scored a hat trick in the win with Nathan Kelly (2), Alex Metcalfe (2), Frank Harrison and Bruce Wilson all getting on the score sheet.

Carterton Town B’s poor form continued as they went down 2-0 to Milton. Jim Littlewood was on target with a brace to earn all 3 points for the visitors.

Division Three
Ducklington A are now just 1 win away from becoming Division Three champions after a convincing 8-0 thrashing of Middle Barton. Shay Cowin scored a hat trick, with Lewis Bartlett (2), Dan Bullock, Jamie Harris, and Luke Bolley getting the others.

Witney Royals Reserves will be playing in Division Four next season; however, they left Division Three on a high note after earning only their third win all season; a 2-1 win over Bourton Rovers Reserves. Jamie Kennedy gave the visitors the lead, which was short lived when Bourton’s Matt Winter levelled with a wonder strike. However, Royals snatched the win in the last minute of the game when veteran Colin Morris raced onto a through ball, burst into the box and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the back of the net.

Division Four
Tower Hill Reserves now sit atop Division Four after a 4-1 win over Milton Reserves. Will Graham (2), Adam Townsend and Justin Keyani were all on target with Steven Pearce replying for the visitors. With promotion secure, Tower Hill still need at least 3 wins to make sure of the title.

Kevin Wishart bagged a brace in Wychwood Forest’s 2-0 win over Aston Reserves.

Jake Pritchard grabbed a hat trick in Bampton United Reserves 4-1 win over Spartan A. Dan Painting scored the other with Jez Ingles netting for Spartan.

Junior Cup Quarter Final
Adam Webley smashed in 6 goals in Bourton Rovers 7-3 win over Witney Wanderers. Stuart Morrison, Gary Atkinson and Colin Fisher all scored for the hosts, but it was not enough as Rovers romped home. Craig Gilson scored the other goal for the visitors.

Supplementary Cup Quarter Final
Brize Norton Reserves went down 3-2 to Tower Hill who now progress to the semi finals. Jason Hirschfield scored both goals for the hosts but goals from Karl Dikenson, Joe Brown and Murray Coop sent the visitors through.

Frank Webb and Jake Willis scored both hit the back of the net for Corinthians as they secured their passage to the semi final, courtesy of a 2-1 win over Charlbury Reserves. Jason Eley scored for the vanquished Charlbury.

Sam Philpott scored twice in Chipping Norton Reserves 5-0 win over Spartan Rangers Reserves. J Dunn, A Helby and D Nimmo scored the others in the comfortable win.

Joining them in the semi final draw will be Eynsham A who saw off Wootton 4-3. Shaun Morton (2), Dec Green and Luke Baker netted the winning goals for the hosts with Daniel Rand, Jamie Fisher and James Wright all getting on the score sheet for Wootton.
