Match Reports - Week 9

Premier Division
Combe maintained their perfect start to the season with a 2-0 win over Kingham AB. They were made to work for the result but goals from Mike gardener and Vinnie Snell sealed the win.

However, Combe are still behind leaders Ducklington on goal difference after they beat AC Finstock 4-1 away. Brendan Kearns scored for the hosts but goals from Damien Tolley, Henry Clarke, Ian Peedell and Adam Clarke settled the tie.

Mike Duerden grabbed another two goals for his new club, Wychwood Forest in their 2-2 draw with Hanborough. Dan Haggie and Tom Lewis levelled the score with strikes for the visitors.

Hailey were held to yet another draw, this time a 1-1 contest against Witney Royals. Ryan Pratley put the hosts ahead, but a late Jack Kennedy strike levelled the match.

Spartan Rangers put Charlbury Town to the test with a convincing 6-2 win. Dave Cross (2), Matt Townsend, James Clarke, Steve Wright and an own goal made the comeback unlikely, despite Tony Bott and Mark Fitzgerald putting the visitors back in the game at half time.

DIVISION ONE
FC Chequers are now 4 points clear at the top of Division One after second place West Witney went down 5-2 to North Leigh A. A tight first half gave way to an avalanche of goals in the second. Steven Read and Dave Cooper scored for the visitors, but goals from Michael Pratley, Will Smaldon, Lloyd Lewis, Jason Lonsdale and Luke Simmonds completed the rout.

Meanwhile the current leaders, FC Chequers thumped Witney Wanderers 7-0. Dan Harwood helped himself to a hat trick, with Joel Hewer, Shaun Evans Stuart George and Jack Bennett all adding.

Aston beat Chipping Norton Town 2-1. Sam Ockwell and Matt Brown hit the back of the net for the hosts with Warwick Thompkins replying for Chippy.

Ducklington went down 3-1 to Chad Park. Martin Plumbrige, George Slatter and Josh Vaughan were all on target for Chad with Stu Cutts netting for Duck.

Pete Andrews and Martin Keylock scored for Hanborough Reserves in their 2-1 win over Brize Norton. Matt Howard scored for Brize.

At the bottom, FC Nomads picked up a valuable 3 points against fellow strugglers, FC Mills. Lee Senior scored in the second half for the hosts but it was not enough as Ali Wilkes, Mark Thompson and Steve Bircher scored the telling goals for Nomads.

DIVISION TWO
Stanton Harcourt moved to the top of Division Two after a close fought 2-1 win over Southrop. After a goalless first half, Stanton took control with Martin Cripps and George Woodcock finding the back of the net. Craig Robinson replied for Southrop in the match, well reffed by Chris Ody.

A single goal from Luke Glaister was enough to give Ducklington A all three points in a 1-0 win over Wootton.

Brize Norton Reserves beat Spartan Rangers Reserves 4-2 with Paul Morrison, James Hookins, Craig Sallis and Chris Hunt all scoring. Rory Dunseath and Mark Sweirgon replied for Spartan.

Milton’s good form continued as Jonathan Izod, Tom Tinson and Paul Mould all scored in their 3-1 win over Hailey Reserves. Josh Lock scored the only goal for Hailey.

Bartek Lachweicz scored the winner in Two Rivers 3-2 win over Charlbury Reserves. Greg Finnemore and Carl Siford netted for Charlbury before Lachweicz and Pawel Kulczyk had scored for the visitors.

DIVISION THREE
West Witney Reserves stay top of Division Three after a comfortable 4-1 win over Kingham AB Reserves. Bennett Jones scored scored for the hosts, but a hat trick from Jamie Goodwin put the result beyond doubt. Adam Bolley added the 4th. Referee, Ben James was credited with handling the match very well.

Mark Clifton scored the only goal of the match in Chipping Norton Town Reserves 1-0 win over FC Chequers Reserves.

Player Manager Ben Readhead and Andy Cross bagged a brace each in Witney Royals A’s 7-1 mauling of FC Mills Reserves. Readhead would have completed his hat trick in style if his 30 yard thunderbolt had hit the right side of the crossbar. Mark Cowely, Dan Tidman and Anthony Barlow all added to the score line before Ben Green strangely gifted Mills an own goal before full time.

A 1-0 win for Freeland over North Leigh B came courtesy of a Sam Burton strike.

The points were shared at Tackley where the hosts drew 2-2 with Aston. Matt Emptage, and Paul Gray levelled the score for Tackley after Andy How and a wonder strike from Alex Allinson had given Aston the lead.

DIVISION FOUR
Carterton Pumas opened up a gap at the top of Division Four after beating close fellow title challengers Wychwood Forest Reserves 3-1. A brace for Dwayne Knipe and a Carl Norton goal was the telling factor after Nigel James had levelled the match in the first half.

AFC Marlborough keep pace in second after a comfortable 2-0 win over Freeland B. Adam Kelley and Ryan Moran-Ross with the goals.

Jon Room and Sam Jones each grabbed a hat trick in Eynsham A’s 9-3 thrashing of local rivals Eynsham SSC. John Ayres also grabbed a hat trick for the hosts but further goals from Jamie Merry (2) and David Cooper banished any thoughts of a comeback.

Jason King and a Ben Allen thunderbolt gave Spartan Rangers A a 2-0 win at Ducklington B.

FC Hollybush earned a comfortable 3 points in their 4-1 win over Combe Reserves. Dan Smith, Dan Knight, Dan Search and Ed Brookes all scored for the hosts who also had Neil Haine to thank for gifting a 20 yard own goal to Combe. The score line could have been worse were it not for a fine performance by Combe keeper, Robin Chan who also saved a penalty.
