Match Reports - Week 3

Premier Division
Ducklington stay top of the Premier Division after a 2-0 win over North Leigh A. Richard Proctor and Ian Peedell scored the goals.

However, current Premier Division champions, Hanborough were humbled by top-flight new boys FC Chequers 2-1 in a feisty match. Shaun Rayfield and Mo Semlali sunk the visitors with a goal each.

A Joel King brace and a goal from Dean Mays secured a 3-0 win over Combe for Hailey.

Spartan Rangers beat Charlbury Town 5-1 with Dave Cross (2), Steve Wright, Andy Shaw and Matt Sweirgon all getting on the score sheet. Matt Smith replied in vain for Charlbury.

Witney Royals ended up as 4-2 winners against Carterton A in an end-to-end match. Craig Greenhalgh (2), Jamie Kennedy and Dean Treadwell scored the telling goals for the visitors with Mike Duerden netting twice for Carterton.

Division One
Tony McLemen scored 5 of West Witney’s 7 goals in his sides 7-0 thrashing of Hanborough Reserves. Carl Roberts completed the rout with 2. West Witney now sit 2 points clear atop Division One.

Chipping Norton Town picked up their second win edging out Ducklington Reserves 1-0. James Harri scored the games only goal.

Matt Howard (2), Colin Tyrell and Dan King were all on target in Brize Norton’s 4-0 win over FC Nomads.

Ed Dunn scored a hat trick as Minster Lovell beat Witney Royals Reserves. Pete Hanley grabbed the other with a Craig Sallis own goal being the only thing Royals took from the match.

Jamie Ponting picked up a hat trick in FC Mills first outing of the season. His side beat hosts AC Finstock 3-0.

Division Two
Witney Wanderers made it 2 wins from 2 as they brushed aside Charlbury Town Reserves 3-0. Tom Gregory scored twice and even Wanderers keeper Simon Swaine found the back of the net.

FC Chequers Reserves rounded off a good day for the club with a 3-2 win over Middle Barton in the sides first game in Division Two. Zac Cain, Abdoul Diallo and Dave Cooper scored the winning goals with Martin Kay and Shane Probitts replying for Middle Barton in this well-reffed match.

Mark Hawkins (2), Jason Hirschfield and Dave Duggan all got on the score sheet in Ducklington A’s 4-2 win over Wootton who scored through Andy McConville and a rare strike from Dave Pratley.

Brize Norton Reserves went down 7-1 to Freeland who were able to field a good side this week. Darius Hodaei scored 4 with Adie Williams(2) and Steve Carvey also netting. Dan Hill scored for Brize.

Division Three
North Leigh B go top of Division Three after an easy 4-0 win over Tackley. Lewis Hatton scored twice with Tom Townsend and Rob Wyatt adding.

Carterton Pumas seem to be adapting to life in Division Three well as they beat West Witney Reserves 3-1. The visitors, who narrowly missed out on promotion last season scored through James Minion, but Simon Gordon, Dave Wanless and Kyle Drummond scored the telling goals for the hosts.

Also promoted, AFC Marlborough picking up their first 3 points. A 5-0 trouncing of Chipping Norton Reserves secured their first win. Marke Luke (2), Nathan Kelly, Tom Mulvihill and an own goal contributed towards the win. Chipping Norton weren’t helped by having a player sent off in the first half after an altercation with the referee.

Aston Reserves beat Spartan Rangers Reserves in a closely fought 4-3 win. Simon Isherwood, Alex Allinson, Dan Godden and Dan Long all scored for the hosts. Jose Castro, Matt Townsend and Andy Sigsworth replied for the visitors.

The points were shared at Kingham where Kingham AB Reserves and FC Hollybush drew 3-3 in a contentiously refereed match. Sean Case, Michael Hayes and Ian Bartholomew were all on target for the hosts with Paul Dray, Darren Aston and Eddie Brookes scoring for Hollybush.

Witney Royals A drew a blank as they were beaten 2-0 by Minster Lovell Reserves. Michael Ryan and Cody Davies were on target for the hosts.

Division Four
Carterton Rangers launched their Witney & District campaign with an 11-4 trouncing of Eynsham SSC Reserves. The hosts ALMOST gave as good as they got, putting four past the Rangers Keeper. Jamie Hewitt (2), Max Leach and Sean Rowbotham with a screamer gave the score line SOME credibility, however a four-timer from Steve Read and Tom Clapton did the damage with Craig Williams and Ben Kearse adding.

Neighbours Carterton B went top after a 3-1 defeat of Spartan Rangers A. Lewis Dewe scored for the visitors but Chris Read, John Smales and Chris Jones all hit the target for Carterton.

Combe Reserves came out narrow winners against Corinthians in a match that finished 3-2. Sam Bedwell, Mark Minchin and Oliver Morgan-Bellamy all scored for Combe with Frank Webb getting both of Corinthians goals.

Keiron Durrant scored FC Mills Reserves only goal in their 5-1 defeat to Freeland B. Jamie Perkins (3), Tom Forkner and Ben Hasley all scored.

Graystones beat Burford 6-2 with the goals coming from Rocky Burton (2), Dean Lee, Gary Smith and Keyth Bonner. Paul Townsend and Jason Bufton replied for Burford.

Evergreen Simon Gibbs grabbed himself a hat trick in Wychwood Foresters 6-0 thrashing of Ducklington B. Kevin Webb (2) and Scott Read hit the others.
