Match Reports - Week 15

Premier Division
2011 kicked off around the Witney & District with only 2 games falling foul of the weather.

Hanborough got their new year off to a winning start with a 2-1 win over Kingham. Gareth Tyak scored for the visitors but goals from Richard Rouse and Aston Leach settled the tie.

AC Finstock went down 2-0 to Spartan Rangers. Nick Brown and Dave Cross with the winning goals.

Division One
Chad Park were the only team to pick up all three points in Division One as they beat Aston 4-2. Josh Vaughan (2), Steve Hunt and Tom Cleevely scored the goals that earned the win with Kevin Alcraft and Dan Isherwood replying for Aston.

FC Nomads earned an important point in their 1-1 draw with Witney Wanderers. Mark Thomas and Martin Jones scored for Nomads and Wanderers respectively.

The points were also shared at Brize Norton where the hosts drew 1-1 with Ducklington Reserves. Mark Jewell scored for Brize with Stu Cutts scoring for Duck.

Division Two
Brize Norton Reserves picked up their biggest win of the season beating previously undefeated, Middle Barton, 3-1. Jack Eaglestone scored for the hosts but goals from Shaun Rawlings, Ollie Puddle and Jed Morgan gave the visitors the win.

In the battle at the bottom, Wootton emerged victorious after an enthralling 7-3 win over Spartan Rangers Reserves.
Lewis Stayt, Rory Dunseath and John Clarke scored for the hosts but a Liam Gubbins hat trick paved the way for Wootton, for whom Jack Mort (2), and Paul Major also scored.

Matt Thompson was the Jewell in the Royals crown as Witney Royals picked up another big win and the three points that come with it after thrashing Milton 7-3. Matt Thompson bagged a fantastic five-goal-haul in the win with Nathan Bowles and Steve Reynolds adding. Pip Benfield, Graham Benfield and Brian George scored the consolation goals for Milton.

A single Mark Dellar strike was enough to earn a 1-0 win for Charlbury Town Reserves in their match against Hailey reserves.

Stanton Harcourt remain top after a 1-0 win over Southrop with Martin Cripps getting on the score shee.t

Ducklington A and Two Rivers had to settle for a point each as they drew 2-2. Luke Woodley and Mark Hawkins scored for Duck with Martin Bungay replying for Rivers.

Division Three
West Witney Reserves re-stated their title credentials with a resounding 7-1 thrashing of FC Mills Reserves. Keiron Durrant scored for Mills but the hosts were already out of sight with goals from Jack Simpson (2), Josh Solomon (2), Gary Smith (2) and James Minion.

North Leigh B moved into second place after a 4-2 win over Minster Lovell Reserves. Ian Quarterman, Lewis Hathaway, Justin Timms and Craig Horne all scored with Mykel Ryan grabbing a goal for the hosts.

Kingham AB Reserves took all three points against Witney Royals A in a 3-1 win. Two goals from Gareth Price and a Jonty Russell goal were enough after Dan Tidman’s second half goal gave the visitors hope.

Eynsha, SSC beat Chipping Norton Reserves 2-1. Matt Walker and John Ayres scored for Eynsham with Warren Thompkins replying for Chippy.

Division Four
Carterton Puma’s dropped their first points of the season in a 1-1 draw at AFC Marlborough. Steve Foreman scored for the hosts with Simon Gordon scoring for the disappointed visitors. Puma’s retain their 4 point lead over second placed Marlborough.

Freeland B went down 3-0 to Combe Reserves. Sam Benwell (2) and Steve Thompkin getting the goals.

Corinthians picked up 3 big away points in their 3-2 win over Eynsham Spartan Rangers A. The visitors scored through Darren Mobey, Richard Meredith and Karl Indge with Ben Allen and Tom Merchant scoring for the hosts.

Eynsham A lost 3-1 to Wychwood Forest Reserves. Dan Hill scored the only goal for the hosts but goals from Matt Hubert, Dave Anstee and Adam Harriss settled the tie.

Oxfordshire Junior Shield
Joel King stole the show in Hailey’s 4-3 win over Charlbury Town in their Junior Shield game scoring all four of his sides goals. Hailey came back from 3-2 down at after Craig McCallum, Tony Bott and Sean Gilbert had given the visitors a half time lead.

Ducklington are through to the next round after a 3-1 win over Wychwood Forest. Jordan Cormack, Darren Harris and a Tom West Penalty were enough to see them through after a late strike from Mike Duerden.

Jack Kennedy and Dean Treadwell scored the goals for Witney Royals in their 2-1 win over Benson.

Freeland went down 4-2 to Croperdy with Adrian Williams and Darius Hodaei grabbing the consolation goals.

FC Chequers were beaten 4-0 by Thame Town.
