John Fathers Oxfordshire Junior Shield.
The first round of the Junior Shield got underway on Saturday with teams from the Witney & District meeting other sides from around Oxfordshire. Hanborough represented the league and themselves exceptionally well with an 8-0 thrashing of Golden Ball. Aston Leach led the way with a hat trick. Dan Haggie, Scott Ackers, Tom Lewis, Keith Frendo and Lewis White all also found the back of the net.

Brize Norton beat Community All Stars 5-2 in a well spirited match. Dan Frizzell, Matt Townswnd, Dan King, Chris Hunt and Nathan Allum were all on the score sheet.

Mike Bolt scored twice to accompany goals from Dan Sollis and Craig Isle in Wychwood Forest’s 4-1 win over Tetsworth.

Charlbury Town beat Bicester’s Sporting Hethe 6-1. Greg Finnemore scored a brace. Steve Knight, Craig McCallum, Duncan Fitzgerald and Matt Smith completed the rout.

A single goal from Tom Kernahan was the only difference between Rose Hill and victors Stanton Harcourt in the 1-0 win.

Chris Lawrence and Chris Johnson each scored a double in FC Nomads 6-0 win over Merton. Jack Foster and Richard Goodwin scored the other goals.

Steve Morgans brace was the only thing West Witney took from their 5-2 defeat to Aston.

Kingham AB are through after defeating fellow W&D competitors, FC Hollybush in extra time. Matt Lane (2), Gareth Tyak and Kurtis Atkins scored the goals that put the Premier Division side through.

That was as good as it got for the Witney and District sides as Southrop went down 7-0 to Sinclair. Witney Wanderers were also knocked out in a 4-2 defeat to Hornton. Daryl John and Martin Jones scored for the hosts. Wotton were beaten 6-0 by KEA while Chad Park went down 7-2 to St Clements.

Premier Division
Combe recorded arguably the biggest result in the clubs recent history after a 1-0 win over current Premier Division Champions, Hailey. Ali Morrison scored the games only goal.

Minster Lovell lost against AC Finstock in an end to end match despite scoring 4 goals. Leigh Travers and Jed Riddy each bagged a brace for the hosts but a 4 timer for Chris Thomas paved the way for the victory. Jim Baughan and Jason Blackman scored the others.

Spartan Rangers beat Witney Royals 3-1. Matt Townsend and Jon Reeves got two with Dave Crossman getting the third against his old side. Matt Thompson scored for Royals.

Division One
Sean Miller and Mike Duerden scored the goals for FC Mills in their 2-0 win over Hanborough Reserves.

A last gasp equaliser from Dan Harwood earned FC Chequers a draw and a point taking them top of Division One. North Leigh A went ahead with two goals from Sam Doherty after an earlier strike from Mo Semlali, but a long range lob from Harwood brought parity to the score line.

Frank Clarke scored two in Ducklington Reserves 4-0 win over Chipping Norton. Damon Tolley scored the other.

Division Two
Middle Barton remain the only team in the division with a 100% record. Ashley Scearce (2) and Jack Eaglestone scored the telling goals after Bartek Lachwicz and Gregorz scored for Two Rivers.

Witney Royals Reserves moved into second after a comfortable 2-0 win over Charlbury Town Reserves. Andy Cross scored both the goals.

Ian Sparkes, Rob Styles and Mark Cornish were on target for Carterton in their 3-0 win over Ducklington A.

Milton picked up their second win of the season with a 3-0 defeat of Spartan Rangers Reserves. Dan Fletcher, Jason Bufton and Kevin Robbins all found the back of the net.

Hailey Reserves went down 1-0 to Brize Norton Reserves courtesy of a Liam O’Brien goal.

Division Three
Freeland A blew a 4-0 half time lead to lose 5-4 to West Witney Reserves. Two goals from Steve Carvey, and one each from Daruis Hodaei and Aiden Williams gave Freeland a seemingly insurmountable lead. However a determined performance and 3 second half substitutions turned the tide for the visitors. Adam Bolley (2), Jamie Goodwin, Josh Soloman and an Alex Randell own goal completed the comeback.

Aston Reserves are second after defeating FC Mills Reserves 3-2. Matthew Britt, Dan Godden and Tom Green all scored to ensure they took all 3 points, despite Jordan Hare and Phil Tierney giving Mills hope in the second half.

Eynsham SSC went down 3-2 to Witney Royals A despite having the lions share of the chances. After a goalles first half, Martin Webb opened the scoring for Royals, quickly followed by an Adam Hicks strike. The hosts pulled one back through Matt Walker, before a Joe Crosby penalty again gave Royals breathing space. John Ayres scored late in the game but Eynsham could not find the equaliser.

FC Chequers Reserves went down 3-1 to Minster Lovell Reserves. Pete Hanley, Courage Nyenya and Dean Reddington scored the goals for the visitors, while the hosts only consolation was a Dan Bilton wonder goal.

Reece Townsend (2) and Mark Barnes scored the goals that gave Chipping Norton Reserves a 3-1 win over North Leigh B. Justin Timms scored the only goal for North Leigh.

The points were shared at Tackley where the hosts came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2. Richard Hatton and Dave Walker pulled things level for Tackley after Miles Harding and Richard French had put Kingham ahead.

Division Four

AFC Marlborough and Wychwood Forest Reserves had to settle for a point each in the battle for the top spot. Marlborough remain in pole position on goal difference after goals from Torrin O’Dowda, Jon Clements and Steve Forman cancelled out strikes from Matt Jupp, Chris McNeal and Matt Herbert.

Eynsham A had a field day against Combe Reserves. James Reeve scored a hat trick with Rory Thimpson (2), Sam Jones (2), and James Maton grabbing the others. Alex Dennison hit both goals for Combe.

Carterton Pumas made it 2 out of 2 in their 4-0 win over Ducklington B. Will Andrew, Keiron Lace, Steve Willis and Carl Naughton all got themselves on the score sheet.

Corinthians put in a workman-like performance in their 6-5 win over Eynsham SSC Reserves. A dazzling Paul Meredith hat trick for the visitors added to goals from Stuart Fisher and Mark Ryder would have been enough on any other day. However Richard Meredith (2), Andy Sanderson (2), Darren Mobey and a semi-retired Karl Indge all found the back of the net to secure the win for the hosts.
