Match Reports - Week 26

Premier Division
Hanborough took advantage of Spartan’s week off to go top of the league after a narrow 3-2 win over Hailey. The hosts who’s squad was depleted by absentees fought bravely to take a 2-0 half time advantage through Lee Bates and Joe Fullerton. But Hanborough experience showed as they overhauled the deficit with goals from Dan Haggie, Richard Rouse and Aston Leach. Boro’ are now a point clear at the top with two games in hand.

Ducklington are third after defeating Minster Lovell 5-3. Dan Harris and Ian Peedell scored two each with Joe Cockroft getting the other. Ed Dunne (2) and Lee Travers scored for Minster.

Witney Royals moved into fourth after a convincing 5-0 win over AC Finstock. Jamie Kennedy scored twice as Dan Price, Steve Brasier and Matt Thompson added.

Wychwood Forest gave themselves a little breathing room just above the drop zone with a 4-0 win over Kingham AB. Mike Bolt, Mike Duerden, Dan Sollis and Roy Riley all found the back of the net in the match,

Charlbury effectively ended any realistic hopes that Combe had of lifting the title as they saw off the visitors 3-1. Matt Holloway, Craig McCallum and Sean Gilbert scored the telling goals with Mike Gardener replying for Combe.

Division one
Chad Park took another step towards the Division One title whilst hammering another nail in the coffin of opponents Hanborough Reserves after a 6-2 win. Joe Burgess and Pete Andrews scored for the hosts but Chad won with ease after Josh Vaughan (3), George Slatter (2) and Martin Plumbridge all found the back of the net.

North Leigh just about took all three points from their game against Nomads winning 3-2. Chris Owen scored two in the first half for the visitors but goals from Daryl Steele (2) and Will Smalden secured the win.

Brize Norton are still playing for promotion after a 3-1 win over Chipping Norton Town. Gerard Morgan scored two for Brize with Matt Howard getting the other. Rhys Warner-Carter replied for Chippy.

FC Mills picked up a rare but important win in their perennial battle for survival with a 2-1 win over bottom side West Witney. Keith Lonsdale and Huw Neyroud scored the goals that mattered after Dave Cooper had replied for West Witney.

Witney Wanderers put up a valiant effort against Aston but eventually lost 4-2 in their relegation battle. Mark Saxel, Luke Hessey and Daryl John scored for the hosts but Matt Brown (2), Phil Caswell and Ally Sillence took all three points for the visitors.

Division Two
Wootton upset the form guide and Stanton Harcourt’s title push after a shock 1-0 win over the Division Two leaders. Tom Williams scored the game’s only goal with a real BOOM of a strike.

Dan Hall scored twice in Witney Royals Reserves 3-1 win over Southrop. Sami Khelil scored the other with Simon Williams hitting Southrop’s only goal.

Martin Bull scored both goals as Hailey Reserves came from behind to shock promotion hopefuls Ducklington A with a 2-1 win. Will Graham scored for the hosts.

Paul Kay scored the games only goal as Middle Barton beat Charlbury Town Reserves 1-0.

Bottom placed Spartan Rangers Reserves made full use of their squad as Matt Townsend scored all four in the 4-0 win over fellow strugglers Milton.

Pawel Kulczyk (2) and Martin Bungay scored the goals that gave Two Rivers a 3-0 win over Brize Norton Reserves.

DIVISION THREE

‘Foztastic’
Super Steve Foster scored a sensational Seven goals in FC Chequers Reserves record 15-0 win over FC Mills Reserves. Foster completed his hat trick after just seven minutes of the game. Paul Read also grabbed a hat trick and Chequers were out of sight after half an hour as Ben Davies (2), Dave Webb, Tom Gonzales and Adam Izzard also got in on the act. Mills are still without a point this season and will be relegated Tackley pick up another three points.

At the top, leaders West Witney Reserves were held to a 1-1 draw by Freeland. Both goals came in the second half with Adam Bolley and Sam Burton scoring for West Witney and Freeland respectively.

North Leigh B are back in the hunt after a 2-1 win over Aston Reserves. Martin Limmer scored for Aston but goals from Dan Tasker and Ian Quartermain secured all three points.

Dan Clifton, Ashley Bowerman and John Ayres scored the goals in Eynsham SSC’s 3-0 win over Tackley.

Miles Harding scored a hat trick in Kingham AB Reserves 3-1 win over Chipping Norton Town Reserves. Josh Barnes replied for Chippy.

Minster Lovell are still in the drop zone after going down 2-1 to Witney Royals A. Cody Davies gave Minster the leaf but goals from Luke Lewis-Rippington and Andy Cross reversed the score line.

DIVISION FOUR
Ducklington B beat Eynsham SSC Reserves 3-2 and in doing so moved up to third from bottom. Ben Jackson (2) and Bradley Olive scored the important goals while Stewart Fisher scored both for Eynsham.

Freeland B went down 2-1 to Spartan Rangers A. Rob Belcher with the goal for Freeland and Tom Merchant and Shane Brown netting for Spartan.

A single goal from man-of-the-match, Darren Mobey was the only difference as Corinthians beat Combe Reserves 2-1.
