Witney & District Football Reports - Week 9

Premier Division

Charlbury Town made it three wins on the bounce and moved to within a point of top spot as they hammered Chipping Norton 7-1. Brad Smith grabbed a consolation for the visitors but goals from Paul Allen, Jordan Brooks, two for Steve Hunt and a hattrick for Warwick Tompkins saw Charlbury demolish their local rivals.

Ethan Penney’s sixth goal of the campaign secured Combe a point against Spartan Rangers in their 1-1 draw. Luke Pettifer with the goal for Spartan.

David Weetman and Henry Macke helped Hailey to their second league win of the season in a 2-1 victory over Eynsham. Tom Gonzales grabbed a goal for Eynsham.

Hanborough dropped points for the first time this season as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Kirtlington, in a game which saw 3 red cards. Jack Morton scored his 15th of the season but a Jonny Ayris own goal gifted Kirtlington the draw.

Minster Lovell got their first league victory of the season in a convincing 3-0 win away at bottom of the table, Witney Royals. Henry Trass, Mark Norridae and Gary Mitchell with the goals.

Division One

Bradley Bryant’s hattrick inspired FC Hollybush to an impressive 4-0 win away at Carterton Rangers, Jack Robinson scored the other. 8 wins in 8 for Hollybush.

FC Nomads got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win against Aston, thanks to goals from Dave Pryse and Josh Truby. Lee Beer’s solo effort wasn’t enough for the visitors.

Jim Littlewood’s double helped Milton to their first win in 4 as they narrowly beat Ducklington 2-1. Tom Gregory scored his first goal of the season for Duck.

Moreton Rangers conceded their game for the third time this season, Chadlington were awarded all three points.

Rob McClelland and Bruce Wilson’s goals were only a consolation for Stonesfield as they lost 5-2 at home to Bampton United. Jake Pritchard scored a brace for the travelling team, Ben Kiddy, Sid Ashley and Daniel Paintin also joined in the scoring.

Division Two

Middle Barton suffered their third defeat in a row as they lost 3-1 away to Brize Norton. John White, Rob Hook and Matt Parsloe all scored for Brize. Martin Kay hit back for Barton.

Stu Morrison scored for the second week running as Witney Wanderers beat Chipping Norton Reserves 4-2. Joey Stevens’ double for Chippy was in vain as Tom Ackling, Sam Wright and Colin Fisher joined Stu in the goals for Wanderers.

Kingham All Blacks made it 3 league wins in 3 as Hailey Reserves forfeited the game due to lack of players.

FC Ascott continued their fine form in a 4-2 win away at Spartan Rangers Reserves. Steve Harries was on the score sheet once again as he scored his 15th and 16th goals of the season, Ben Powell and Mark Burgess also found the back of the net for Ascott. Charlie Harper and Nick Brown hit back for Spartan.

Hanborough Reserves moved up to the top of the table in an extremely surprising 4-0 win away at Tower Hill. Herbie Hamilton and Joey Burgess two goals a piece saw Hanborough go unbeaten in four.

Division Three

Wootton won 7-1 for the second week running as they dismantled Bampton United Reserves. Joe Paintin scored for Bampton but goals from Lee Spencer, Karl Gustha, Adam Luzi and two each for Michael Steers and Jamie Hutton saw Wootton move up to 5th in the table.

Jimmy Deabill scored a triple hattrick as Bletchinton put 13 past Bourton Rovers Reserves without reply. Danny Evans, Loren Bushay and Jake Godfrey’s double helped Jimmy in the scoring.

Tom Townsends effort for Ducklington Reserves was in vain as Charlbury Town Reserves won their seventh game of the season in a 5-1 win. Gary Jones found the net twice, along with Sean Godfrey, Brenna Marles and Damian Corbin.

Nick Angus and Jamie Austin extended Aston Reserves unbeaten run in a 2-1 win away at FC Hollybush Reserves. Charlie Miller scored for Hollybush.

Minster Lovell Reserves got back to winning ways in a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Corinthians. Charlie McCulloch, Leo Haines and James Hector with the goals.

Division Four

Chadlington Reserves got their first points of the season in a 3-2 win at home to top of the table, Milton Reserves. Keyth Bonner and Adam Townsend found the goal for Milton but goals from Charlie White, George Slatter and Martin Plumbridge helped Chad get their first win on the table.

Daniel Simon’s double helped Brize Norton Reserves to a fifth straight win as they beat Eynsham Reserves 4-2. Lee Litton and Richard Duffy also scored for Brize. Chris Adams and Lee Parsons with the goals for Eynsham.

Goals from Ben Franklin, Connor Ladbrooke, Keith Laird and Komon Matthews saw Stonesfield Reserves move up to 4th in the table in their 4-2 win away at FC Ascott Reserves. Christopher Blayney netted twice for Ascott.

Siege FC continued their fine league form with a 3-0 win against Kingham Reserves. Nathan Howells, Connor Harrison and Carl Austin with the goals.

Spartan Rangers A conceded seven for the third time this season in their defeat to FC Mills. Paul Read smashed in four for Mills, Jonny Room two and they were also helped with an own goal.

Combe Reserves moved up to fifth after their 4-1 away victory at Wootton Reserves. Frazer Scott scored for the hosts but Shay Paige’s double and a goal each for Marcus Smith and Leon Richards saw Combe move up to 5th.
