Witney & District Football Reports - Week 20

Premier Division
The Premier Division has new leaders this week as Kirtlington beat Carterton Rangers 4-1. Adam Lee scored for the visitors, but goals from Shane Probitts, Nathan Kelly, Tom Williams and Ally Broome put the new leaders in pole position by plus 2 goal difference from FC Hollybush .

Current Champions Hanborough still hold all the cards with seven games in hand despite being held to a 1-1 draw with Carterton Town A. Craig Johnson scored for Boro’ with Ben Liddle replying for Town.

The points were shared at Chipping Norton Town where the hosts played out a 3-3 draw with Hailey in a game which saw Andrew Helby, Nathan Bott and Rhys Warner-Carter all find the back of the net for the hosts. Nathan Kimber (2) and Tom Gregory evened the tie with goals for Hailey.

Division One
It’s also tight at the top in Division One after Aston beat Eynsham SSC 7-0. Aston, currently with two games in hand and already with a far superior goal difference moved into top spot after goals from Ryan Colleton (2), Lee Beer and Jamie Kennedy added to a Vince Evans hat trick.

Tower Hill were knocked off their perch as they fell to a 5-3 loss against Chadlington. Lee Woodward scored a hat trick in the match with Ewan Thomas and Ashley Scearce notching the others. Lewis Bartlett (2) and Ian Wright replied for the hosts.

The points were shared at Bampton United in a match which saw Conor O’Shea scored twice for the hosts in a 2-2 with Witney Royals. Chris Coggins and Dave Cross with the goals for Royals.

Division Two
Charlbury Town Craig McCallum showed that he can mix it up in Division Two as well as the Premier as he smashed in a hat trick for the Reserves against Kingham All Blacks in a 4-0 win. Bradley Empson scored the fourth keeping Town join top.

Middle Barton continue to share top spot with Charlbury after a 3-1 win over Brize Norton. John Umney notched all three goals for the visitors with Bartek Lachwicz replying in vain for Brize.

In their mid-table battle, Bletchingdon saw off rivals Moreton Rangers 2-0 courtesy of goals from Danny Evans and Andy White.

Witney Wanderers made it 3 wins from 3 league games in January as their great form continued. This time they handed out a 7-0 thumping to Aston Reserves. Josh Walkington, Michael Bason, Ethan Philips-Richardson and Dan Smith (4) all found the back of the net.

Division Three
Everything in Division Three went with form on Saturday as the top five sides all picked up victories. Leaders Minster Lovell Reserves made light work of hosts Witney Royals with a 7-0 win. Fullback Aidan Foard scored a hat trick in the win with Gary Mitchell, Ben Jackson, Rui Alves and Russel Whitlock all getting on the score sheet.

Siege FC beat Ducklington by the same score line with Ben Reardon (3) Andy Makepeace (2), Rob Marsh and James Woodham-Davis all getting in on the act.

Third place FC Hollybush Reserves beat Milton Reserves 4-2. Brad Bryant netted a double with Richard Williams and Steve Holder getting the others. Dan Hooton and Harry Nolan replied for Milton who are still to register a point this season.

Corinthians put in a fine performance against Chipping Norton Town Reserves picking up three points in a 7-1 win. Yusuf Okunade scored for Chippy, but it was mere consolation as Frank Webb (3), Harry Purfitt, Jake Woodcock, Alex Marsden and Richard Hall all registered for Corinthians.

Wootton gave FC Mills a good seeing to with a 6-0 spanking. Finbar Saunders pounded the Mills goal hard and picked up a hat trick for his efforts. Karl Guschtscha hit two, with one rocket flying like a wizards sleeve into the net. Lee Spencer rounded off the scoring, from a corner, arriving late at the back post he poked it in the rear.

Division Four
Wootton Reserves moved back to the top of Division Four after their 3-0 win over Kingham AB Reserves. Aaron Bowerman (2) and Mark Mumford both got on the score sheet.

FC Ascott Rangers went down 6-1 to Stonesfield Reserves with Mark Harrison netting for the home side. However goals from Liam Harris (2), Shaun Kemp, Jamie Gardner, James Ryan and Ryan Hunt put the result beyond doubt.

Siege FC Reserves were also thrashed 6-1 with Bampton United Reserves picking up all three points. Nigel Jones scored for Siege but goals from Steve Newman (2), Richard Ghagan (2), Steve Allert and Matt Creasey saw off the hosts.

Spartan Rangers A were 4-2 victors over Eynsham SSC Reserves. Scott Mason bagged a brace with Mev Gundem and James Macke getting the others. Will Timmis scored Eynsham’s double.
