Witney & District Football Reports - Week 13

Fred Ford Cup 17-18 - Third Round
Aston cruised through into the quarter finals of the Fred Ford after a 6-2 crushing of Chadlington. An own goal was scored at either end but Aston found five more through Ryan Lewis (2), Alex Cade, Ryan Colleton and James Flemming. Matt Chadwick was responsible for Chad’s other goal.

Premier Division
FC Hollybush’s relentless run of form continued as they saw off Combe 4-3. However they were made to work for the points. Leon Richard scored a brace for Combe with Si Baker nabbing the other, but the hosts showed their title winning credentials, outscoring their opponents with goals from Michael Duerden (2), Rory Linford-Pill and Craig Mays.

Charlbury Town aren’t too far off the pace after their 2-1 win over hosts Chipping Norton Town. Dan Bott scored for Chippy however goals from Jack Eley and Craig McCallum settled the tie.

Hanborough remain the only side with a 100% win record after a Nick Lister own goal gave them a 1-0 win over Carterton Rangers.

Hailey picked up another 3 points after a narrow 3-2 win over Kirtlington. Jack Wood, Nathan Kimber and Sean King were all on the score sheet with Shane Probitts and Anthony Booker replying for the visitors.

The points were shared at Carterton Town A where the hosts drew 2-2 with Minster Lovell. Olly Bush and Gaz Nicholson scored for Carterton with Pete Barnicoat and Charlie McCullough replying for Minster.

Division One
A jubilant Bampton United picked up their first point of the season after a 2-2 draw with Milton. The Visitors set the pace, scoring through Steven Pearce and Jim Littlewood, but the hosts remained resilient levelling the tie with goals from Daniel Paintin and Conor O-Shea.

Tower Hill Stars closed the gap at the top to only two points courtesy of their 3-0 win over Eynsham SSC. Tom Bennington banged in a brace with Sam Bowers adding their third.

Dave Cross and Miles Roberts were on target for Witney Royals in their 3-2 win over FC Nomads. Nomads contributed an own goal to Royals’ tally, rendering Chris Lawrence’s brace mere consolation.

Division Two
A Damien Corbin hat trick fired Charlbury Town Reserves to a 3-0 victory over Witney Wanderers keeping the hosts 2 points clear at the top of Division Two.

Second placed Kingham All Blacks maintained the pressure on top spot after a 6-2 thrashing of Aston Reserves. Chris Mills scored twice and the rest were shared amongst George Wood, Dom Hemmings, Liam Barnes and Lewis Brain. Matt Wood and Reece Wain scored the consolation goals for Aston.

Dan Rocket scored for Hanborough Reserves in their 3-1 loss to Bourton Rovers for whom Lee Mosson (2) and Toby Cranham scored.

Middle Barton lost ground on top spot and slipped to third place after they were held to a 4-4 draw by Bletchingdon. John Umney, Tony Beckham, Jack Kay and James Kyberd scored for the hosts with Chris Thorne (2), Sam Cleaver and Craig Barrett replying for Bletch.

A single Mark Boydell strike was enough to earn Moreton Rangers a 1-0 win and all three points in their game against Brize Norton.

Spartan Rangers Reserves leapfrogged Hailey Reserves out of the relegation zone after their 3-1 win over the visitors. Charlie Harper, Matt Townsend and Ben Allen all got on the score sheet with Freddie Buckingham replying for Hailey.

Division Three
FC Mills recorded their first win of the season after a 3-1 victory over Chipping Norton Town Reserves. Dean Spivey put in a man of the match performance and rewarded himself with a goal which was accompanied by strikes from Dan Hedges and Lewis Hooper. Jack Knight scored Chippy’s lone reply.

Despite Mills’ win, the surprise result of the day saw leaders Minster Lovell Reserves go down 2-1 to Corinthians. Craig Sallis scored again for the hosts but goals from Frank Webb and Cameron West saw the visitors pick up all three points. 1'

Despite Minsters slip, neither second or third place sides were able to take advantage as Siege FC and FC Hollybush held each other to a 2-2 draw. Kew Lewis and Chris Godfrey scored for Siege with Danny Brearley and Chris Hirons netting twice for Hollybush.

Milton Reserves went down 2-1 to Ducklington for whom Tom Davies Scored a brace. Paul Dray scored for Milton.

Wootton ran out easy winners against Bourton Rovers Reserves in their 8-2 win over their opponents. Lee Spencer scored a hat trick with Luke Legget (2), Karl Guschtscha, Michael Steers and Sean Gibson all getting on the score sheet. Dan O'Driscoll and Steve Placak scored the consolation goals for Bourton.

Division Four
Division Four defences were in a generous mood on Saturday as nearly 40 goals were scored across the six league games. Only two were scored at Field Close where hosts Stonesfield Reserves beat Kingham Reserves to move into second place, dropping Kingham into third. Carry and Raffy Rice were both on target in the 2-0 win.

Twelve goals were scored in the match between Bletchingdon Reserves and Carterton Town B with the latter emerging 8-4 winners. Michael Trafford (2) Tom Knox and Nigel Taylor all scored for the hosts but Ryan Clement and Shay Lowthian each scored a brace with Tom Coppinger, Noven Labor, Peter Okerke and Dan Chillington all getting the others to give Town the win.

Brize Norton Reserves went down 4-1 at home to Spartan Rangers A. Olly Puddle scored for Brize but Nick Brown (2), Scott Mason and Tom Merchant’s goals ensured that the visitors took the points.

Chadlington Reserves went one better and recorded a 5-1 win over FC Ascott Reserves. Ethan Taylor scored a four timer for the hosts with Adam Tinkham getting the last. Brian Taylor scored for Ascott.

Wootton Reserves scored 5 without reply in their 5-0 win over Eynsham SSC Reserves. Craig Baker scored a hat trick with Martin Brion and Theo Flatman also got on the score sheet.

Aaron Bickley (2) and Alex Everitt scored for FC Ascott Rangers during their 6-3 loss to Bampton United Reserves. However it was Richard Ghagan (2), Steve Newman, Steve Allery, Matt Creasey and Sam Hancock who ensured it was the visitors who would be taking all three points.
