Match Reports - Week 7

Premier Division

Something had to give at the top of the Premier Division on Saturday as league leaders Ducklington met Combe, both of whom, had made a perfect start to the season. Damon Tolley scored for Ducklington who would later rue missed chances, as Matt Baker and Simon Baker scored for Combe giving them a 2-1 win. The score line would have been different had Jordan Cormack not missed from the penalty spot.

Hailey are back on track with a 2-1 win over Premier Division new boys, Wychwood Forest. James Flemming and David Brown scored the winning goals after Jason Trinder had scored for Forest.

Spartan Rangers took all three points in their 4-1 win over Kingham AB. Steve Williams, John Reeves and Paul Cross scored for the visitors with Dan Davies hitting back for Kingham.

Hanborough beat Minster Lovell, 4-0 with Richard Rouse, Dan Haggie, Tim Lewis and Aston Leach all getting on the score sheet.

Witney Royals went down 2-1 to Charlbury Town for whom Tony Bott scored twice. Matt Thompson scored for the hosts.

Division One
The top two also met in Division One, however, on this occasion the points were shared as leaders FC Chequers came from 2-0 down at half time to draw 2-2 with West Witney. Dave Cooper and Stephan Reed put Witney ahead but goals from Nathan Bennett and Joe Hewer gave parity to the score line after the break.

Brize Norton lost their 100% start to the season as they went down 2-1 to Aston. Phil Caswell and Kevin Alcraft scored for the hosts with Gerrard Morgan hitting back for Brize.

Aaron Witham scored a hat trick in Chipping Norton’s 5-2 win over FC Mills. Mike Duerden scored both Mills’ goals but Ryan Green hit a brace for Chippy, killing off the tie.

Hanborough doubled their points tally, when they beat FC Nomads 3-1. Arrun Hobley, Pete Andrews and Scott Akers scored for the visitors, as Jack Costar hit back for Nomads.

Witney Wanderers left it late against Ducklington Reserves, but eventually won 3-2 picking up their first points of the season. John Clarke and Stu Coutts scored for Ducklington but Alan Stewart, Hardeep Banwait and Mark Saxel were all on target for Wanderers giving them the win.

North Leigh A beat Chad Park 4-1. Tom Cleevely scored for the hosts as James Lonsdale (2), Luke Simmonds and Lee Moseley scored for North Leigh.

Division Two
Middle Barton signalled their title intentions with a 5-0 win over Charlbury Town Reserves, and continued their perfect start to the season in the process. However, they had Charlbury to thank for the most part as they contributed 3 own goals to the tally. Nick Pickup and Ashley Scearce grabbed the others.

Two Rivers got their first win of the season knocking Witney Royals Reserves off top spot with a 2-0 win. Pawel Kulcyk and Pawel Bronk grabbed the goals.

Stanton Harcourt demolished Wootton 6-1. Ben Calcutt and George Woodcock grabbed a brace apiece with Dan Hackett and Martin Cripps adding.

Brize Norton Reserves went down 3-1 to Southrop. Shane Imms scored twice for the visitors as Tim Hodgetts added the third. James Hookins replied for the hosts.

Stuart Morrison notched a hat trick in Hailey Reserves 6-2 win over Ducklington A. Russ Clarkson and Dave Baker scored for Duck but goals further goals from Callum Mutch, Joe Hyatt and Matt Hunter settled the tie.

Division Three
A Gary Smith hat trick kept West Witney Reserves top during a 3-1 win over Minster Lovell Reserves. Chris Baker scored for the hosts.

Meanwhile, Aston Reserves in second place, could only draw with Chipping Norton Reserves. Reece Bayliss and Dan Goddenn scored for Chippy and Aston respectively.

Tom Gonzales found his goal scoring touch with a brace against Witney Royals A in FC Chequers Reserves 2-0 win.

North Leigh B beat FC Mills Reserves by the odd goal in 5. The visitors took a 2-0 lead into half time courtesy of goals from Lewis Ashton and Huw Neyroud, but a second half fight back from the hosts saw Harry Adams (2), and Jamie Buxton turn the tie around.

John Ayres grabbed another 2 for Eynsham SSC in their 5-3 win over Kingham AB reserves. Leigh Parsons, Ashley Bowerman and Matt Walker each scored the others. Tom Edington’s hat trick, was mere consolation for the visitors.

Tackley lost to Freeland 4-2. Paul Gray and Jake Cook scored for the hosts with Adrian Williams (2) and Sam Burton scoring for Freeland.

Division Four
Corinthians suffered a thrashing twice in as many week after going down 9-0 to Carterton Puma’s. The well reffed game saw Dwayne KNipe grab a hat trick with Carl Naughton (2), Kyle Drummond (2), Rob Downes and Simon Gordon all scoring.

Dale Cox put on a man of the match performance on his return to Eynsham A. He was instrumental in the heart of midfield where he helped Jon Room to earn his hat trick. Mike Barker and Jamie Merry also added with Richard Stanley, Jason Footitt and Ian Lewis netting for Freeland.

Spartan Rangers A beat Eynsham SSC Reserves 3-0. Tom Merchant, Will Cook and Andy Nickless all found the back of the net.

The points were shared AFC Marlborough where the hosts drew 1-1 with FC Hollybush. Steve Foreman and Paul Dray scoring for Marlborough and Hollybush respectively.

Combe Reserves fought hard against Ducklington B for what is a rarity in the lower divisions; a 0-0 draw. .
