Witney & District Football Results for Saturday 27th September 2014

Premier Division
Carterton A opened up a 2 point gap at the top of the league after a 4-0 win over Hanborough. Mike Bolt, Jason Trinder, Phil Standard and Mike Duerden all hit the back of the net.

Second placed Chipping Norton Town were held to a 1-1 draw by visitors Ducklington with Warwick Thompkins and Scott Mason scoring for Chippy and Duck respectively.

Hailey climb into third courtesy of a 3-1 win over Brize Norton. Sam Rowe netted for the visitors but Dean Mays, Shaun Rayfield and Harvey Butler all found the back of the net for the hosts.

Champions West Witney continued to struggle and racked up a third defeat in 4 after going down 4-3 to Witney Royals. Carl Dodds and Craig Mays were amongst the goals for the visitors, but a brace from Gary Nicholson and strikes from Steve Holder and Jamie Kennedy secured the points for Royals.

Minster Lovell were undone by the single goal in seven after going down 4-3 to Charlbury Town. Charlie Collins, Nathan Harris and Connor Tinsley all scored for Minster but Charlbury went one better with Mark Goode, Craig McCallum, Jack Fleet and Shaun Gilbert all getting on the score sheet.

Division One
Bourton Rovers remain in pole position after a 3-1 win over Hailey Reserves. A Craig Gilson brace and an own goal put the hosts in a commanding position. Mo Semlali’s reply was not enough.

Spartan Rangers smashed in seven past Eynsham Sports with Josh Grant picking up a hat trick in the 7-1 win. Frank Clarke, Rob Marchbank, Adam Izzard and Henry Clarke got the others with Matty Walkers strike Eynsham’s only reply.

Aston picked up their first points of the season with a 3-2 win over North Leigh A. Benji Sunblad scored twice with Gareth Preston getting the other. Lee Moseley and Justin Timms were on target for the visitors.

Ethan Penny scored a hat trick in Combe’s 4-1 win over Chadlington. Simon Gale scored the other with Luke Rhodes scoring for Chad.

FC Hollybush also opened up their Division One account courtesy of a 2-1 win over hosts Kingham. Rob Collard scored for Kingham but goals from Dan Hedges and Ali Laing secured the points for the visitors.

Division Two
It was one-way traffic for Kirtlington as the hosts smashed in thirteen goals against a luckless Enstone in a 13-1 demolition. Shane Probitts and Ryan Ross each bagged a hat trick. John Omole (2), Nathan Kelly, Broed Wilson, Alex Metcalfe, Frank Harrison and an Enstone own goal all contributed to the rout. A Dayle Steedman goal was the only thing the visitors had to show for the afternoon.

Milton sit atop Division Two after a 7-1 mauling of FC Mills. Watts (2), Hillary (2), Benfield, James and Chapman were all on target for Milton with Travers finding the back of the net for the defeated hosts.

Witney Wanderers went down 5-2 to second placed Stonsefield. Bernie Crumlish and James Bason were on the score sheet for the hosts but a brace a piece for Paul Penny and Ed Giles with another from Mike Phipps settled the tie.

Ducklington Reserves went down 4-3 to Carterton Town B. Conor Newcome, Jack Scott and Dave Oliver all found the back of the net for the hosts but goals for Olly Bush (2), Dan Sollis and Dan Robinson swung the tie in Carterton’s favour.

Russ Steele (2), Nathan Beckett (2) and Conner O’Shea were amongst the goals for Bampton United in their 8-1 thrashing of Hanborough Reserves.

Division Three
Jesse Lawrence scored a hat trick in Tower Hill’s 5-1 win over Bourton Rovers Reserves. Arron Tipping netted for the hosts but two further strikes from Joe Brown and Ian Wright ensured Tower Hill took all three points and remained top.

Matt Howard banged in a 4-timer as Spartan Rangers Reserves beat Minster Lovell Reserves 6-2. Nathan Bowles and Cody Davies scored for the hosts but Joel Spalding and Dave Cross added to Howad’s haul.

Brize Norton lost 4-3 to Wootton Sports with Jamie Fisher picking up a hat trick. Charandeep Singh got the other as Joe Baldwin, Jason Hirschfield and Richard Duffy replied in vain for Brize.

Ducklington A ran riot against Witney Royals Reserves with a 8-1 routing of the visitors for whom Mike Piper scored.

Division Four
Tower Hill Reserves continued their perfect start with a 6-1 win over Bampton United Reserves. The goals were shared amongst Scott Brown (2), Adam Townsend, Darren Tasker, Dave Meredith and Jesse Lawrence. Joe Painting’s goal for Bampton was their only consolation.

Eynsham A stay second after a comfortable 4-0 win over FC Hollybush Reserves. Zac Sheffield, Oliver Page, Jordan Lyne and Ben Liversage all got on the score sheet.

Milton Continued their revival with a third win in four, courtesy of a 3-1 defeat of Eynsham SSC Reserves. Stephen Pearce (2) and Paul Townsend scored for the hosts with Shaun Rowbotham netting for Eynsham.

Chris Blainey (2), Tom Merchant (2), James Macke and Mark Abbiss were all on target for Charlbury Town Reserves in their 6-0 win over Spartan A.

Finn Saunders scored a hat trick but ended up on the losing side as Wootton Reserves went down 4-3 to Aston Reserves. Ryan Cook (2), Matt Jameson and Charlie Fisher all hit the back of the net for Aston.

… and it doesn’t happen often, especially in the lower divisions, but Chadlington Reserves and Kingham Reserves each have a point to show for their efforts after they played out a 0-0 draw.
