Fred Ford Cup

The two semi finals of the Fred Ford Cup took place in midweek.
In the first game West Witney survived an early setback when Wayne Moscrop was dismissed for violent conduct to defeat Carterton Town A 1-0. In a game of very few chances Karl Dodds grabbed the winner just before the break.

In the 2nd semi Division 2 leaders Combe upset the odds with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over a lacklustre Witney Royals.
Ethan Penney ran the show for Combe netting twice adding to goals from Roger Moss and Simon Gale.

Jack Busby Cup

Division 3 strugglers Brize Norton Res caused a major surprise when they dumped Division 1 leaders Hailey Res out of the Jack Busby Cup at the semi final stage. Brize missed several good chances with keeper Steve Lazarus keeping Hailey in the game. The tie was finally settled in extra time, when Richard Duffy scored the only goal of the game

Premier Division
West Witney took another step towards retaining their Premier Division title with a 6-1 win over Hailey. Perry Tinson scored for the hosts but a brace each from Wayne Moscrop and Chris Hirons, with strikes from Kev Lewis and Tony McLemen repeated the 6-1 defeat inflicted by West Witney a fortnight ago.

West Witney’s cause was helped by second placed Chipping Norton Town slipping up with a 3-1 defeat against Charlbury Town. Craig McCallum scored a hat trick for the visitors as Warwick Thompkins replied for the hosts.

Relegation looms for Chadlington who went down 7-1 to Hanborough. Martin Plumbridge scored for the hosts but Boro’ ran riot with goals from Craig Johnson (2), Dan Smith, Aston Leach, Arron Hobles, Scott Ach and Neil Rose.

Minster Lovell are also still deep in the relegation mire as they went down 2-1 to Aston. Jim Hearne scored for the visitors but a goal a-piece from Dan Long and Graham Carter secured the points for Aston.

Division One
Brize Norton blew the Division One title race wide open on Saturday after a 2-0 win over fellow title chasers, Bourton Rovers. Brize, now top by a point with 3 games to play, scored through Pawel Bronk and Matt Howard.

At the other end of the table, Spartan Rangers overturned a half time deficit to beat Eynsham 5-2. Andy Stratford and Nathan Prestige first half goals gave the hosts the lead, but goals from Frank Clarke (2), Josh Grant (2) and Matt Timms gave Spartan all 3 points.
Hanborough Reserves need a miracle to save them from the drop after going down 3-0 to FC Nomads. Chris Lawrence (2) and Dave Price scored the goals that consigned Boro’12th defeat of the season.

Division Two
Carterton Rangers 9-points deduction earlier in the season seems a distant memory as they now sit hot on the heels of leaders Combe. Lee Keys banged in 6 goals in Rangers 8-0 thrashing of Ducklington Reserves. Adam Lee and Tom Clapham got the others.

Pace setters FC Hollybush are finding their form again, this time with a narrow 2-1 win over Bampton Town. Eddie Brookes and Ally Laing scored for the visitors with Ian Bilton scoring Bampton’s goal.

Kirtlington are also still in the promotion mix as they ended Finstock’s unbeaten run with a 2-0 win. Shane Probitts with both goals.

Witney Wanderers beat Milton 5-2. Tom Senior, Sam king, Bernie Crumlish, James Bassoon and Marcello Guitherme scored for the visitors with Jim Littlewood and Harry lake netting for Milton.

Division Three
Carterton Town B look set for the title and almost certainly promotion after their 5-0 win over Spartan Rangers Reserves. Dan Sollis scored a hat trick with Adam Harris and Olly Bush adding. Town need just 4 points from their remaining 3 games to secure Division Two football next season.

Wootton are still within reach of a promotion place after they saw off Charlbury Reserves 4-0, relegating their opponents in the process. Charlie Bough (2), Mitch Larman and Graham Berry scored the goals that consigned Charlbury to Division Four.

Bourton Rovers Reserves look likely to join Charlbury in the drop after going down 8-0 to Chipping Norton Reserves. Sam Philpotts picked up a four goal haul in the with Matt Smith grabbing a hat trick. Kieran Watts completed the rout with Jake Oakey scoring both for Bourton.

Ducklington A moved themselves out of the drop zone after a 2-1 win over Middle Barton. Charlie Yeomans scored for the hosts with Dave Baker and a spectacular 50 yard strike in the final minute from Paul Dunsby the important goals for Duck.

Division Four
Tower Hill earned promotion as Division Four Champions after a 6-1 thrashing of FC Hollybush Reserves. Jamie Goodwin scored a hat trick for Tower, who have lead the division from the beginning of the season with Luke Bolley, Edd Dunn and George French also getting on the score sheet. Doug Mulvihill scored the consolation goal for the hosts.

Aston Reserves look favourite to join Tower Hill in Division Three next season after a 2-0 win over Wootton. Paul Herbert scored both for Aston, who have several games in hand over the teams around them.

Bampton United Reserves hit seven past Milton Reserves in a 7-1 mauling. Dan Oyston scored 3 with Sammy Hancock (2), Danny O'Shea and Tom Madden replying. Simon Miles scored the consolation for Milton, who remain rooted to the foot of the table.

Tom Nickleson and Ben Powell each bagged a brace in Wychwood Forest’s impressive 5-0 win over Spartan Rangers A. Paul Townsend scored the other.
