Match Reports - Week 25

Premier Division
Brize Norton’s hope of Premier Division survival finally disappeared on Saturday as the visitors went down 5-3 to West Witney. Brize, who have only recorded two wins all season scored through Pavel Bronk (2) and Bart Lachewicz, but Chris Hirons, Karl Dodds, Tony Mclemen, Smalldon and Knibbs all got on the score sheet to consign Brize to Division One football next season. To make matters worse for the visitors, player manager Richard Taylor was sent off late in the game.

That result also means that West Witney remain in second and are now one of only two teams that can stop leaders Carterton Town A winning the title. However, they still have an 8 point margin to make up after Carterton saw off Minster Lovell 4-2. Ryan Purslow (2), Mike Bolt and Jason Lonsdale all scored for the hosts with Nathan Harris and Connor Tinsley netting for Minster.

At the bottom of the table, Ducklington have 5 games in hand on their opponents, but are still in trouble after going down 4-2 to Witney Royals. Steve Brasier smashed in a hat trick for the visitors with Richard Williams grabbing the other. Jack Morton and George Townsend replied for Duck.

Third placed Chipping Norton beat Hanborough 4-1 with Reece Miller and Andrew McCabe both netting a brace. Neil Rose replied in vain for relegation threatened Boro’.

Division One
Spartan Rangers were left ruing missed chances as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Aston. Luke Pettifer netted for the home side with Ethan Mumford replying for the visitors. Spartan spawned several chances to take all three points after some resolute defending form the visitors who held on for a share of the spoils.

Combe picked up another three points in their bid to chase down Bourton Rovers at the top of the division. This week, a narrow 2-1 win over plucky Kingham with Simon Baker and Chris Betreen getting on the score sheet. Richard French netted for the hosts.

FC Nomads picked up what could be an invaluable point in their fight against relegation after drawing 1-1 with Hailey Reserves. John Andrews hit the back of the net for Hailey with Chris Lawrence scoring for Nomads, who are now 4 points from safety with 3 games in hand.

Division Two
Witney Wanderers recorder their sixth win of the season with a 3-1 defeat of relegated Enstone. Tom Gregory (2) and Daryl John scored for the hosts with Luke Kizme pulling one back for Enstone.

Division Three
Brize Norton Reserves are not yet out of the relegation laden woods after going down 3-1 to Corinthians. Scott Peaper continued his good scoring run with another goal, but strikes from Frank Webb (2) and Josh Russell ensured the visitors took all three points.

Division Four
Eynsham A are now just one more win from securing promotion to Division Three. The hosts, who are all but mathematically promoted, picked up their latest 3 points after a 5-2 win over Kingham Reserves. The hosts goals were shared amongst Aled Newton, Oli Page, Zac Sheffield, Declan Green and Luke Barker. Simon Blackhouse and Jack Godfrey replied in vain for Kingham.

Undefeated Tower Hill Reserves are hot on the trail of Eynsham after seeing off Aston Reserves 3-0. Goal machine Will Graham bagged a brace with Adam Townsend getting the other.

Milton Reserves put in a stellar performance to beat high flying Spartan Rangers A. Jim Littlewood scored both goals for Milton with Chris Blayney scoring for the vanquished visitors.

Bampton Reserves beat Eynsham SSC Reserves 3-2. Steve Newman (2) and Dan Paintin scored for Bampton with Zac Hower and John Ayres replying for Eynsham .

Junior Cup - Quarter Final
Carterton Rangers of Division Three are through to the semi-finals after comfortably despatching Division Two side and previous winners, Chadlington 5-0. This visitors hit the ground running and were 3-0 up within 20 minutes. Debutant Stephen Reed scored twice with Chris Smith, Adam Lee and Josh Bishop getting the others.

Dave Oliver bagged a brace as Ducklington knocked out FC Hollybush 4-3. Dan Smith and Jack Scott got the others for the visitors as David Cooper, Arron Mullis and Paul Dray replied for the Bush.

Nathan Kelley (2), Jake East and Shane Probitts were all on target for North Leigh in their 4-2 win over Kirtlington. Dan Townsend and Ryan Master scoring for the visitors.

Supplementary Cup – Round Two
It took extra time to separate Witney Royals Reserves and Chipping Norton Town Reserves in their tie; eventually winning 6-3. Royals took the lead through debutant Harry Hamblin, but were soon pegged back as Matt Chadwick scored the first of his 4-goal haul. Max Lucas and Lewis Townsend scored Royals other goals but Chadwicks four-timer was accompanied by strikes from Clayton Foster and Sam Philpott.

Charlbury Town Reserves saw off Ducklington A 4-0. Martin Grimsley scored twice with Gary Jones and Mark Goode getting the others.

Junior Shield – Second Round
Adam Webley scored a hat trick in Bourton Rovers 7-0 win over Hanborough. Dan Smith (2), Keegan Bowles and Sam Muttock scored the others.

Junior Shield – Quarter Final
Luke Mannign and Dean Mays were on target in Hailey’s 2-1 win over Steeple Aston seeing them through to the semi final.
