Oxfordshire Charity Cup – Round Two
Premier sides Hailey and Ducklington met in the Oxfordshire Charity Cup with the hosts emerging 4-1 victors. Joel King, Paul Read, Jack Wood and Luke Manning were all on target for Hailey with Kevin Davies pulling one back for Duck.

In the same competition, Premier side West Witney went down 4-3 on penalties to Kidlington Old Boys after extra time. The match finished 2-2 after extra time with Chris Hirons and Kai Merritt both finding the back of the net however the Witney & District sides finished the match with 9 men after Hirons and Carl Austin were both receiving two yellow cards.

Premier Division
With their close rivals in cup action this week, Carterton Town A increased their lead at the top of the Premier Division to 8 points after a 3-1 win over old rivals Brize Norton, who currently reside at the bottom of the division. Despite a slow start from the hosts, Town took the lead when Michael Duerden capitalised on a defensive lapse. Chasing the game, Brize then threw more men forward and it paid dividends when Dan Frizell equalised, however it was short-lived as Jason Lonsdale added another two to the tally to settle the tie.

Hosts Chipping Norton also had to come from behind in their 4-1 win over Charlbury. The visitors took the lead when a Chippy defender put the ball into his own net; but the hosts were soon back in control courtesy of a brace from Warwick Thompkins including one penalty. Kieran Watts and Andy McCabe grabbed the others to take all three points.

The points were shared at Burwell Meadow where Witney Royals drew 1-1 with Hanborough. Tom Kempster was on target for the hosts.

Division One
Leaders Spartan Suffered their first defeat of the season as they went down 2-1 to North Leigh. However they remain top as second place Bourton Rovers were held to a 2-2 draw by third placed Combe. Josh Catling and Sam Mattock were on target for the osts in this match with Ethan Penney scoring twice from the spot for Combe.

Eynsham SSC picked up a much-needed win and pulled themselves out of the bottom two after they beat FC Hollybush 2-0. Neil Edwards and John Ayres were on target. Aston also moved out of immediate danger with an impressive 6-2 win over bottom side Kingham Reserves. Warren Austin grabbed a hat-trick with Ryan Oliver (2) and Graham Carter getting the others.

Those results meant that FC Nomads slipped into the drop zone for the first time this season as they went down 3-1 to Chadlington. Kamil Tylutki scored on his debut for Nomads but his joy was short-lived as Boro’ soon turned it around.

Division Two
Leaders Stonesfield faced another stern test on Saturday in the form of the unbeaten Carterton Rangers. However the hosts passed with flying colours, earning a 3-0 win. Chris Jordan, Ed Gilkes and George Redknapp were all on target to inflict Rangers’ first defeat of the season.

It’s all very tight in the chasing pack as Kirtlington played hosts to form-team Milton and handed them a 3-1 defeat. The result meant they leapfrogged their opponents into second place. The feisty match was handled well by referee Mark Venn with both sides acknowledging his performance.

Carterton Town B were left ruing missed chances as they went down 1-0 at home to Bampton United. Connor O’Shea was on target for the visitors.

At the wrong end of the table, neither hosts FC Mills nor visitors Enstone will be happy with the point they earned in their 2-2 draw. Both sides still reside in the relegation mire but Rob DeBanks netted twice from the spot for Mills with Gareth Wessels (2) replying for Enstone.

Hanborough Reserves remain rooted to the foot of the table after going down 2-0 to Witney Wanderers. Tom Gregory and Stuart Morrison were on target with the goals.

Division Three
Leaders Ducklington A were held to a 1-1 draw at Middle Barton in an evenly contested match, however, their lead at the top is still a staggering 9 points. Jack Fowler scored for the hosts with Duck’s Hollifield getting the goal for the visitors.

Second placed Spartan Rangers Reserves gained ground after picking up a 2-0 win away at Wootton. Alex Thompson and Omar Semlali were on target for the visitors.

Tower Hill are re-finding their form and did so in emphatic fashion with a 4-1 win over fellow promotees, Corinthians. The visitors took the lead through Frank Webb, but a goal just before half time settled the hosts. Jesse Lawrence went on to score a hat trick in the win with Jamie Goodwin netting the other.

Witney Royals Reserves picked up only their second three points of the season after a 3-1 win over hosts Brize Norton Reserves and moved above them in the process. Debutant James Kear scored from long range to settle the visitors nerves, with Ryan Cummins scoring on his first start for his new club. Mikey Piper then increased the lead from the spot just before Ciaran Clarke pulled one back for Brize.

Form side Minster Lovell Reserves picked up a fifth straight win in their climb up the table. A 4-3 victory over Chipping Norton Town Reserves provided the points this week. Matt Smith and Liam Fudge (2) were on the score sheet for the defeated Chippy. But goals from Collis King, James Hector, Gareth Pearson and Mykel Ryan secured the points for Minster

Division Four
Aston Reserves beat Charlbury Town Reserves 5-3.

FC Hollybush Reserves earned their first win of the season after beating Kingham Reserves 6-1.

Spartan Rangers A went down 7-1 to Eynsham A with Matt Townsend scoring the consolation goal for the hosts.

Wychwood Forest also won by the same 7-1 score line over their opponents Wootton Reserves. Sam Benwell scored for the unlucky visitors whose bad luck was compounded when veteran Jason Ludlow missed from the penalty spot.
