Witney & District Football Referee, Mal Edmunds, blew his whistle for a final time on Saturday. Mal has officiated for over 20 seasons; during which time has become one of the leagues most respected Referees.
However, at 90 minutes (plus stoppage time) in the match between Eynsham A and Wychwood Forest, the final whistle announced his retirement.
Respected for his firm but fair approach to each game, Mal struck a chord with the players, young and old and was famous for his catchphrase “I don’t kick your ball, so don’t blow my whistle”.
Happy retirement Mal!
