Witney & District Football Reports - Week 5

Premier Division
FC Hollybush remain top of the Premier Division despite not playing at the weekend. Both Chipping Norton Town and Charlbury Town missed the chance to take top spot after going down to Carterton Town A and Hanborough respectively.

Chippy narrowly lost out 5-4 to Carterton Town A in an end to end match. As the score line suggests there were plenty of chances for both sides, but the visitors edged it with goals from Martin Watroba, Ben Liddle, Dave Wanless, Was Christian and Mike Bolt. Nathan Bott from the spot and further goals from Andrew McCabe (2) and Ollie Brotherston fell short with Chippy’s reply.

Reigning Champions Hanborough made it two wins from two seeing off previously unbeaten Charlbury Town 2-1 in a scrappy match. Aston Leach and Craig Johnson scored the telling goals with Craig McCallum nabbing Charlbury’s reply.

Kirtlington secured their first points of the season with a 4-2 win over hosts Carterton Rangers. Johnny Dover and an Adam Lee penalty registered for Rangers but goals from Nathan Kelly (2) , Mikey Harding and Shane Probitts settled the tie in the visitors favour.

Minster Lovell earned their first points of the season courtesy of a 2-2 draw with Spartan Rangers. James Hector and Nick Rose netted for Minster with Alfie Saunders and Charlie Waite replying for Spartan.

Division One
A Dave Cross four timer sent Witney Royals back to the top of Division One. Cross lead the scoring in Royals 5-2 win over FC Nomads. Miles Roberts bagged the other with Chris Laurence and Jordan Thomas replying for the hosts.

Aston slipped into second place after being held to a 1-1 draw by Stonesfield. Raffy Rice found the back of the net for the hosts with Ryan Lewis hitting back for Aston.

Tower Hill Stars moved into third after handing out a 7-1 thrashing to FC Ascott. Leigh Travers and Leyton Brandon each bagged a braced with Tremayne Barttlett, Darren Tasker and Tom Bennington grabbing the others. Matt Lewis scored the consolation goal for Ascott.

Andy Stratford (2), James Harris, John Ayres and Jason Blackman were all on the score sheet for Eynsham SSC in their 5-0 mauling of Chadlington. Despite the score line, Chadlington gave as good as they got, but could not break down the Eynsham defence or get past the excelletn Chris Dowrick in goal.

Alex Ayres and Josh Catling both netted doubles in Milton’s 4-2 win over Bampton United for whom Jake Pritchard also scored two.

Division Two
Division Three Champions Charlbury Town Reserves have adjusted to life in Division Two in style as they now lead the chasing pack by two points. They made it four wins from four on Saturday after a convincing 5-1 win over Hanborough Reserves. Lewis Maskens scored for Boro’ but goals from Michael Hayes (2), Lee Stefanovic, Damien Corben and Bradley Empson but the result beyond doubt.

Brize Norton keep pace with top spot after a 4-2 win over Aston Reserves. Phil Caswell and Reece Wain scored for the hosts but goals from John White (2), Olly Puddle and Matt Parsloe secured all three points for Brize.

Middle Barton missed the chance to go top after going down 3-2 to Hailey Reserves . Tom Jones scored twice with Freddie Buckingham adding a third for Hailey. Middle Barton’s John Umney also hit a brace but it was not enough.

Bletchington moved into fourth after their convincing 4-0 win over Spartan Rangers Reserves. Todd Parker-Hunt, Nick Middleton, Darryl Potter and Craig Barrett shared the goals equally.

Moreton Rangers saw off Witney Wanderers 2-0 with goals from David Toon and Kyle Smith.

Kingham All Blacks and Bourton Rovers played out a rare thing in the Witney & District. A 0-0 stale mate.

Division Three
Witney Royals Reserves moved into third place with an emphatic 12-0 demolition of Chipping Norton Town Reserves. Rhys Woodward lead the scoring with a hat-trick while Jamie Goodwin and Will Graham each grabbed a double. Mikey Piper, Ryan Harris, Colin Morris, Dan Harflett and Ollie Nolan all weighed in with the others to complete the rout.

Siege FC remain top and retain their 100% win record with a 8-2 thrashing of FC Mills. Andy Makepiece grabbed his second four goal haul of the season with Tom Radburn netting twice. Tom Dix, Lee Manley and Jon Room all scored the others. Stu Cutts goal for Mills was scant consolation.

FC Hollybush Reserves’ Bradley Bryant scored from a free kick to earn his side a 1-0 win over Corinthians, keeping the hosts in second place.

Milton Reserves went down 2-0 to Bourton Rovers Reserves with Lee Mosson and Mac Salf grabbing the goals.

Minster Lovell Reserves picked up three points courtesy of their 5-2 win over Combe Reserves. Gary Mitchell (2), Rui Alves (2) and a Luke Hessey free kick all contributed to the score line with Leke Shodunke (2) replying for Combe.

Lee Spencer scored all for of Wooton’s goals in their 4-1 win over Ducklington for whom Ady Kew replied from the spot.

Division Four
Bletchington Reserves lead the way at the top of Division Four on goal difference after their scrappy 2-1 win over a depleted Chadlington Reserves. Mason Connolly and Olly Bagnell both hit the back of the net. Olly Jordan scored the goal for Chad.

Wootton Reserves move into third place after a 3-0 win away to Brize Norton Reserves, leapfrogging their opponents in the process. Ade Marks, James Goodwin and Elliot Higgins were all on target.

There were goals aplenty in Carterton Town B’s 8-3 trouncing of Eynsham SSC Reserves. Tomas Mazur and Jordan Finnemore each scored a hat trick with Phil Stannard and Joseph Justin getting the others. Ben Partlett, Lewis Cooper and George Greening hit back in vain for Eynsham.

Scott Mason scored for Spartan Rangers A in their 5-1 defeat at home to Stonesfield Reserves. Jamie Gardner (2), Luke Burns, David Holloway and Peter Searle hit back to secure the win for the visitors.
