Witney & District Football Reports - Week 25

Watts Junior Cup 17-18 - 1st Round
Hailey Reserves finally played their Junior Cup first round tie and it was worth waiting for as they defeated Charlbury Town Reserves 4-1. Tom Jones and Matthew Eeles both bagged a brace in the win with Mark Clifton scoring the consolation goal for Charlbury.

John Fathers Oxfordshire Junior Shield 17-18 - Quarter Final
Bletchingdon’s quarter final Junior Shield game ended in defeat to Original Swan of the Banbury and District League as they went down 3-0. Meanwhile, in the same competition, Tower Hill have only just made it TO the quarter finals after they defeated Aston in their Fourth Round tie. James Scott and Adam Bolley both scored in the 2-1 win with Ryan Colleton notching for Aston.

Premier Division
Hanborough’s relentless surge to the top of the Premier Division continued on Saturday as they beat Spartan Rangers 3-0. Jamie Hodges, Jack Morton and Dan Haggie all scored in the win.

The points were shared at Chipping Norton Town as visitors Carterton Rangers drew 2-2 with the hosts. Rhys Warner-Carter scored both for the hosts with Mykel Ryan netting both for Rangers.

Division One
Stonesfield moved into second place thanks to a 3-1 win over Witney Royals. Miles Roberts scored for the visitors but goals from Carry Rice (2) and Lewis Colwell settled the tie.

Bampton are still rooted to the foot of the table after they went down 6-1 to Chadlington. The visitors brushed aside the hosts with goals from Lee Woodward (2), Jarvis Morley, Matt Chadwick, Will Foster and Warren Holland.

Milton drew 2-2 with FC Nomads taking a share of the points. Alex Ayres scored both for Milton with Jordan Thomas and Chris Laurence earning what could be an invaluable point in Nomads fight against relegation.

Division Two
Bourton beat Middle Barton while Moreton beat Brize Norton! Middle Barton’s title charge was brought to a crashing halt on Saturday as they were beaten 4-2 by third placed Middle Barton. Tony Beckham scored twice for Middle Barton but goals from Ben McPhlimey (2), Harry Larner and Connor Glynn gave the hosts all three points.

Bourton Rovers are now within two points of Moreton after they picked up a 2-0 win away to Brize Norton. Joe Boote and Mark Boydell scored the goals.

Spartan Rangers Reserves went down 3-0 to Kingham All Blacks with Paul Tyack, Daniel Cleveley and Ryan Barrass scoring the goals.

Division Three
Siege FC moved seven points clear at the top of Division Three after an 8-three thrashing of FC Mills. Will Griffiths bagged a hat trick with Andy Makepeace netting twice. Karl Dodds also scored a double with Nathan Howells getting the odd goal. Cody Davies (2) and Dan Hedges scored for Mills.

Witney & District stalwart and Corinthians player-manager Bobby Truman scored his first goal in 3 years in his sides 4-0 win over Wootton. Truman completed the scoring after Frank Webb (2) and Harry Davies had given the hosts the lead.

FC Hollybush Reserves closed the gap on the top two after their 6-2 win over Witney Royals. Steve Holder (2), Richard Williams, Chris Hirons, Michael Duerden and Danny Brearley were all on target for the hosts with Ollie Nolan and Rory Murphy both finding the net for Royals.

Division Four
Wootton Reserves title charge hit a stumbling block when they faced a resilient Chadlington Reserves. The hosts were defeated 3-0 with goals from Chad’s Charlie White, Alfie Peachey and Ollie Jordan.

Adrian Williams scored a four timer as Kingham All Blacks Reserves saw off Stonesfield Reserves 6-3. Ben Gibson and Dan Lay scored the others while David Holloway, Liam Harris and Jamie Gardner replied for Stonesfield.

Brize Norton Reserves moved into fifth after their 2-0 win over FC Ascott Reserves. Ciaran Clarke and Paul Morrison with the goals.
