Witney & District Football Reports - Week 14

John Fathers Oxfordshire Junior Shield 17-18 – Third Round
Six more Witney & District sides are in the hat for the next round of the John Fathers Junior Shield after the results this weekend. Witney Royals cruised through to the next round courtesy of a 6-3 win over fellow W & D Side, Kingham All Blacks. Liam Readhead scored a hat trick in the win, as Craig Isle, Miles Roberts and Dave Cross added the others. Chris Mills (2) and Sam Philpott scored the consolation 1'

Chipping Norton will also be joining them after they put six past Milton in a 6-1 victory. Nathan Bott scored twice with Rhys Warner-Carter, Kieran Watts and Dan Bott getting the others. Joey Lee and Jim Littlewood scored the consolation goals for the hosts.

Jack Scott scored a hat trick for Tower Hill in their 5-0 win over Benson Lions. Will Hayes and Cam Donohoe grabbed the others.

Chesterton were knocked out 4-1 by Spartan Rangers for whom Kieran Watts (2), Luke Pettifer and Callum Hampson scored.

Stonesfield are also through to the next round after Sam Bodinham and Mike Phipps were on target in their sides 2-1 win over Goring United.

Bletchingdon went through by the same score line against Mason Arms with Mark White, and Todd Parker-Hunt getting the goals.

Less fortunate were Tower Hill Stars who were knocked out by Chequers 8-2. Tom Bennington with Tower Hill’s goals.

Ducklington are also out after going down 3-1 to Swis. Tom Davies goal for Duck was all they had to show.

Despite an heroic effort, Middle Barton are also out, falling foul to the odd goal in 9 and against Hornton. Jack Kay (2), Jack Fowler and John Umney all found the back of the net in their sides 5-4 defeat.

Siege FC cup run also came to an emphatic end, going down 5-0 to Original Swan.

Premier Division
There were only two games in the Premier Division this weekend and Kirtlington made the most their match, picking up all 3 points in a 5-3 win over Carterton Town A. Shane Probitts bagged a brace with Jake Est, Ross Gray and Nathan Kelly getting the others. Steve Harries, Wes Christian and Olly Bush scored for town in the match that saw Kirtlington move into second place.

Minster Lovell continue to put distance between themselves and the relegations zone after they earned another 3 points; this time courtesy of a 4-1 win over Carterton Rangers. Johnny Fletcher banged in a hat trick with Sam Wright adding the fourth. Dan Hall scored the consolation goal for Rangers.

Division One
In the days only Division One game, hosts Chadlington beat FC Nomads 2-1. Lee Woodward scored both the goals for Chad with Chris Laurence replying for Nomads. The result leaves Nomads 4 points from safety in the drop zone.

Division Two
The wheels seem to have come off Charlbury Town Reserves title wagon having lost 3 of their last 4 matches. Their most recent defeat was at the hands of Spartan Rangers Reserves. Matt Townsend and Filton Pavier scored the winning goals in Spartan’s 2-1 victory. Michael Faulkner replied for Charlbury, who despite the result, remain in second place.

Hanborough Reserves earned a vital point in what will be their undoubted fight against relegation. The point came after a 1-1 draw with Brize Norton. Jamie Hodges and Jake Farrugia scoring for Boro’ and Brize respectively.

Bourton Rovers eased to a 6-1 win over Witney Wanderers. Lee Mosson scored a hat trick with Henry Lait, Harry Larner and Ben McPhlimey all on the score sheet. Dan Smith scored the lone goal for Wanderers.

Division Three
At the top of Division Three, Minster Lovell Reserves stretched their lead to five points after a 4-2 win over fellow title hopefuls FC Hollybush Reserves. Craig Sallis was yet again on the score sheet with Gary Mitchell, Rui Alves and Luke Hessy netting the others. Steve Holder and Danny Brearley hit back for The Bush but it was not enough.

Chipping Norton Town Reserves earned only their second win of the season and moved out of the bottom two in the process, with a 2-1 defeat of Witney Royals Reserves. Andy Partlett scored for the visitors but two controversial penalties, both scored by Jack Knight settled the tie.

Corinthians continued their good run with a 3-0 win over Milton Reserves. Jay Hughes, Ryan Allen and Harry Purfitt were all on the score sheet.

Division Four
It’s as you were at the top of Division Four as the top two sides both took maximum points this weekend. Wootton Reserves earned their three after a narrow 2-1 win over Bletchingdon Reserves. Elliott Higgins and Mark Mumford were on target for the hosts with Tom Knox getting on the score sheet for Bletch.

Kingham All Blacks Reserves had a scare against Brize Norton Reserves but kept pace with the leaders after a narrow 5-4 win over the visitors. Liam Barnes scored a hat trick with Adrian Williams and Tom Matthews getting the others. Danny Claridge, Lee Litton, Jason Hirshfield and Gavin Smith nearly levelled the tie for Brize.

Carterton Town B moved into third place after a 14-1 demolition of FC Ascott Rangers. Dave Wanless lead the way with a four-goal-haul while Dan Chillington recorded a hat trick. The rest were shared out amongst Ryan Clements (2), Shay Lowthian (2), Si Oakley, Jack Gibson and Tomas Mazur. Brandon Laing’s goal for Ascott was mere consolation.

Bampton United Reserves earned another vital three points and climbed further away from the foot of the table after their 2-1 win over Chadlington. Steve Newman and Conor O'Shea hit the goals for the hosts as Charlie White pulled one back for Chad.

It was a point a piece ace Spartan Rangers A and Siege FC played out a 1-1 draw. Veteran playmaker Michael Hole scored for Nomads, with Karl Dodds, levelling the tie for Siege for whom the point was much more valuable.
