Witney & District Football Reports - Week 7

Fred Ford Cup - 2nd Round
Division Two Bletchington produced this weeks’ shock cup result as they dumped Premier side, Spartan Rangers out of the cup in a feisty affair. Josh Green, Richard Wells and Sam Cleaver were all on target for the hosts in a match that ended 3-2. Charlie Waite and Henry Clarke replied for Spartan.

It was one-way traffic at Wootton where the hosts were unceremoniously dumped out of the cup 11-0 by FC Nomads. Chris Laurence was on fire, hitting a six of his sides haul with Jordan Thomas grabbing a hat trick. Mark Thomas and Ben Moffatt added the others.

It took extra time and penalties to separate Aston and Eynsham SSC as they drew 3-3 at full time. James Fleming, Ryan Lewis and Alex Cade were all on target for the hosts with Eynsham’s John Ayres netting a hat trick to give parity to the score line. However Aston held their nerve in the shoot out to win 6-5.

Chadlington saw off Bampton United 4-2 with the goals shared amongst Ashley Hughes, Beau Pergusey, Jacob Hazelwood and Sam Davin with Jake Pritchard (2) scoring for Bampton.

Carterton Rangers went down 3-0 to Premier leaders FC Hollybush. A Craig Mays brace and a goal from Rory Linford-Pil was enough to see out the tie.

Mike Bolt scored for Carterton Town in their 3-1 defeat to Hailey for whom Jack Wood (2) and Callum Mutch scored.

Charlbury Town were also knocked out of the competition, going down 3-0 to Kirtlington. Shane Probitts, Jake East and Tom Williams all found the back of the net.

Chipping Norton Town eased through 4-0 at the expense of Minster Lovell. Nathan Bott (2), Reece Bayliss and Rhys Warner-Carter scored the telling goals.

A Matt Baker hat trick helped to lead Combe to a 6-2 win over Brize Norton. Sam Hibberd, Sammy Hart and Steve Smith all got in on the act for the hosts with Adam Davis and Toby Goodwin replying for Brize.

Luke Bolley, Ollie Squires and Cam Donohoe all got their names on the score sheet as Tower Hill despatched Ducklington 3-1. Jack Meagher scored Duck’s consolation goal.

It was a close affair at Middle Barton where the hosts edged a tight game 4-3. Goal Machine, John Umney scored a hat trick with Jack Fowler getting the other. Rob James grabbed two back for Milton with Steve Pearce also scoring but it was not enough.

Raffy Rice and Mike Phipps each bagged a brace in Stonesfield's 4-1 win over Tower Hill Stars. Stars only consolation was a goal from Adam Izzard.

Witney Royals made easy work of Siege FC with an 8-1 demolition of the visitors. Dave Cross and Dan Townsend each grabbed a hat trick with Will Graham scoring the other two. Andy Makepiece scored the consolation goal for Siege.

Witney Wanderers went down 2-0 to Kingham all Blacks with Eddy Webb and Sam Philpot hitting the goals.

Division Two
In the days only Division Two games, Spartan Rangers Reserves earned their first win of the season with a 4-1 win over Aston Reserves. Matt Townsend, Nick Brown, Jono Reeves and Connor Henderson Sowerby all found the back of the net as Steve Caton pulled one back for Aston.

Division Three
FC Hollybush Res draw level with leaders Siege FC on points after their crushing 7-2 defeat of Chipping Norton Reserves. Matt Smith and Darren Bridge scored for Chippy but goals from Alex Stubbs (2), Danny Brearley (2), Josh Grant, Richard Williams and Jack Henry settled the tie.

FC Mills went down 3-2 to Combe Reserves with Leke Shodunke (2) and Joe Wick scoring the telling goals. Dan Hedges and Cody Davies goals for Mills were not enough for a point.

A single Daryl Wells goal was enough to secure all three points for Corinthians in their 1-0 win over Milton Reserves.

Minster Lovell Reserves moved into third after their 5-2 win over Witney Royals Reserves. Evergreen Craig Sallis and Rui Alves each scored twice with Gary Mitchell getting the other. Mikey Piper and Ryan Harris replied in vain for Royals.

Division Four
Bletchington Reserves stay top as they handed out a 5-1 defeat to Kingham All Blacks Reserves. James Quilty scored for the hosts but a Michael Trafford treble and goals from Darryl Potter and Mason Connelly put the result beyond doubt.

Brize Norton Reserves went above Stonesfield Reserves into fourth after beating them 3-2. Gavin Smith (2) and Lee Litton scored the winning goals as Jamie Gardener and Daniel Thomas netted for the visitors.

Chadlington Reserves went down 1-0 to Bampton United Reserves courtesy of a Steve Allery strike.

Mev Gundem rolled back the years and smashed in four goals in Spartan Rangers A’s 6-1 thrashing of FC Ascott Rangers. Sam Quinn also scored two for the visitors as Kyle Gilford scored the consolation goal for Ascott.

FC Ascott Reserves beat Siege FC Reserves 3-1 with Steve Harries (2) and Ben Harris getting the goals. Connor Harrison replied for Siege.
