Fred Ford Cup
Fred Ford holders FC Hollybush power through in extra time.

FC Hollybush overcame Aston in an all Premier division clash in the 2nd round of the Fred Ford Cup but needed extra time to mount the defence of the crown they won last year.

It was 2-2 at full time but Hollybush marched into round three thanks to goals from John Andrews, Danny Brearley, Alan Rogers and a brace from Dean Mays. Ryan Lewis and Ryan Colleton had scored for Aston to take the game beyond 90 minutes.

The biggest win of the day came as Division One’s Bourton Rovers put fourteen past Division Four’s Ascott Rangers, without reply. Adam Webley was the pick of the bunch, scoring no less than seven of Bourton’s goals. Josh Hubbard and Alex Winter each bagged a brace as Lee Mosson, Ben McPhilimey and Ryvan Masarado completed the scoring with a goal each.

Despite 13 of the ties involving sides from different divisions, there was only one upset and it came at Burwell Meadow. Division One’s Witney Royals managed to overcome Premier Division Spartan Rangers, winning 3-2 inside 90 minutes. David Cross, Miles Roberts and Liam Readhead managed to complete the victory for Royals and leave Spartan winless in all competitions this season. Henry Clarke and Josh Hookings scored for Spartan.

There was another tight game at Wootton as Wootton from Division Three gave Premier Division Carterton Town a tough 90 minutes. Wootton took the lead in the first half but goals from Sam Truman and Carl Ford saw Town through to round three.

Hailey are another Premier Division side safely through to round three after dispatching a Division Three side. Jack Wood and a Perry Tinson penalty saw Hailey win 2-0 against a battling FC Mills.

There were two ties between Premier Division and Division Two teams and both games yielded 10 goals each and victories for each of the Premier Division sides. Tower Hill safely got past Siege FC by winning 7-3. Jacob Hambidge (2) Ian Wright (2) Lewis Bartlett, Jack Holifield and Murray Cox all scored to put Tower into the hat for the next round.

It was a slightly tighter affair as Carterton Rangers won 6-4 against Witney Wanderers. Wanderers would have hoped that scoring four away from home would have been enough for the upset thanks to Mark Wright, Josh Walkington, Michael Basson and Telmo Fernandez but goals from Liam Day and Mykel Ryan and a brace each for Jonny Dover and Ross Jaeger gave Rangers the win.

Stonesfield were also big winners as they put 5 past Hook Norton without reply. Raffy Rice and Carry Rice both got a brace and Tim Wyatt completed the scoring for the division one outfit.

Other sides through to round three were Combe, Charlbury, Bampton, Kirtlington and Middle Barton whilst Minster Lovell and Moreton Rangers received walkover victories after their opponents couldn’t field a side.

John Fathers Junior Shield
It wasn’t to be for Eynsham SSC in their rearranged Junior Shield match as they lost out 3-1 to Great Milton. John Ayres scored for Eynsham.

Division Two
The league still remains wide open after the two games at the weekend. Minster Lovell Reserves bumped themselves up to second in the table with a 5-1 victory over previously unbeaten Brize Norton. Adam Davis had scored for Brize but two goals for both Luke Hessey and Russell Whitlock and a goal for Gary Mitchell gave all three points to Minster.

Hailey Reserves lead Minster by a point and climbed to the summit with a 3-2 victory over Aston Reserves. Aaron Robins scored both of Aston’s goals but it wasn’t to be as Will Graham, Darren Tasker and Shaun Evans put Hailey top.

Division Three
Tyler Webster scored the only goal of the game to keep Carterton Town B top of Division Three. A 1-0 victory over Bourton Rovers Reserves keeps Town top on goal difference only.

Spartan Rangers Reserves are the team in second place as they returned to winning ways by overcoming Witney Royals Reserves. Arrun White, Scott Mason, Alex Thomson and Daz Craig scored for Spartan whilst Mikey Piper and Rob DeBanks replied in vain for Royals as they went down 4-2.

Tower Hill Reserves powered into the top half of the table with their second win of the season by beating Chipping Norton 4-0 away from home.

Division Four
It’s still goals and victories galore for the top two sides in Division Four as Kingham Reserves and Stonesfield Reserves continue to march on at the top of the table.

Chris Mills bagged a four timer as he helped Kingham beat Eynsham Reserves 8-2. Liam Barnes scored a brace as Frazer Duffield and Marshall Devas completed Kingham’s rout. Bradley Leach and Jayy Hewitt put Eynsham on the scoresheet. Stonesfield managed to go one better by putting 9 past Spartan Rangers A.

Milton Reserves and Bampton United Reserves played out a seven goal thriller but it was the away side who came away with the spoils. Dan Hooton remains Division Four’s top goalscorer as he scored two of Milton’s goals. Harry Nolan pitched in with the third but goals from Richard Garchan, Steven Alley, Lewis Townsend and an own goal gave Bampton their first win of the season.

Brize Norton Reserves came out on top in their game versus Chadlington Reserves. Dan Sollis and Chris Greenaway got a goal each as Brize won 2-0.
