Witney & District Supplementary Cup 17-18 - 2nd Round
It was ok in the 80’s, and maybe even the 90’s but in days of modern local football, bad weather and a boggy pitch usually results in the match being postponed. Around half of the Witney & District matches this weekend fell foul to the conditions. The remaining games we played on heavy pitches in ‘old school’ conditions. However there was still plenty of football to be played, notably in the cups where Division Four Carterton Town B convincingly knocked out a strengthened Chipping Norton Town Reserves side, from Division Three. Mark Corbett scored for the hosts but goals from John Wood, Si Oakley and Dave Wanless put the Division Four underdogs through to the next round.

Bampton United Reserves will be joining Carterton in the next round after they edged though in their tie against Chadlington Reserves. The hoest went through courtesy of a 3-2 score line with their goals coming from Kieron Colley, Steve Newman and Mark Carrington. Charlie White and Matt Chadwick replied for Chad.

It took penalties to separate Corinthians and visiting FC Hollybush Reserves after they drew 3-3 at full time. Frank Webb was on target twice for the hosts with Harry Purfitt getting the other. Steve Holder (2) and Paul Read levelled the tie taking it to penalties and it was Hollybush who held

Ducklington cruised through to the next round of the cup after a 5-2 win over FC Ascott Reserves. Courage Nyenya and Sam Murphy each scored twice with Ady Kew getting the other. Charlie Vickers and Josh Hornsby replied in vain for the visitors.

Witney Royals Reserves will also be in the hat after their 5-1 win over Eynsham SSC Reserves on a very boggy pitch. Ben Partlett scored for the visitors late into the game. However Rob DeBanks and Mikey Piper had put Royals ahead with a brace apiece and debutant Ali Rice opened his Royals account with an excellent long range strike.

Fred Ford Cup 17-18 - Quarter Final
FC Hollybush booked their place in the semi-finals of the Fred Ford cup after their 3-0 win over Stonesfield. Craig Mays, Dean Mays and Rory Linford-Pill all got on the score sheet.

Jack Busby Memorial Trophy 17-18 - Quarter Final
It was an epic tussle at Wash Meadow where hosts Minster Lovell Reserves saw off a resilient Charlbury Town Reserves. Aidan Foard scored another hat trick for Minster with Russel Whitlock (2) and Gary Mitchell adding. Damien Corbin scored a hat trick Town with Michael Hayes getting the other.

Premier Division
In the days only Premier Division match Carterton Town A went down 3-2 to Chipping Norton Town. Sam Cairns and Ross Standing were on target for the hosts but goals from Dan Newman, Josh Hunt and a Reece Bayliss penalty secured all three points.

Division One
Eynsham SSC hosted the days only Division One game and perhaps wished they hadn’t after visiting Witney Royals trounced them 6-1. Stephen Chappel scored for the home side, however a Jamie Goodwin hat trick and goals from Miles Roberts (2) and Dave Cross moved Royals into fourth.

Division Two
Middle Barton increased their lead at the top of Division Two courtesy of a 3-0 win over Witney Wanderers. John Umney (2) and Jack Fowler were on hand with the goals.

Bletchington were made to work for the three points when they hosted visiting Brize Norton. The visitors pushed Bletch hard and scored through Dan Humm and Joe Henry, but a brace from Danny Evans and a strike from Jordan Bye settled the tie.

Adam Webley scored twice in Bourton Rovers 2-1 win over Spartan Rangers Reserves. Peter Jenkins pulled one back for Rangers.

Hailey Reserves good form continued as they picked up 3 points after their 3-0 win over Aston Reserves. Tom Jones hit a double with Curtis Hathaway getting the other.

Javan Nurse and Adam Chadwick each scored in Moreton Rangers 2-1 win over Hanborough Reserves. Josh Brookes scored for Boro’.

Division Four
The race for the Division Four crown was blown wide open at the weekend after Kingham AB Reserves beat leaders Wootton 3-0. Kingham, who moved into third place, scored through Sam Barker, Liam Barnes and Adrian Williams. Despite the loss, Wootton remain top but have placed two games more than second placed Carterton Town.

FC Ascott Rangers were on the wrong end of a 7-1 mauling by a very strong Brize Norton Reserves side. Alex Everitt scored what was to be a consolation goal for the hosts after Brize had already put the result beyond doubt with goals from Jason Hirschfield (2), Leo McLoughlin, Lee Litton, Danny Claridge, Gavin Smith and Olly Puddle.
