Fund Raising Day

Folks

I am sure most of you remember a couple of seasons back, the League supported the Witney in Pink campaign. Clubs and ref's donated their fees to this great cause and well in excess of £1000 was raised.

A number of us have been thinking about doing something similar again and with the sad news that Bourton Rovers player Ben Hughes has been diagnosed with Testicular Cancer, we feel that the time is now right to do something.

So we are asking that this coming Saturday 19th January, referee's donate some or part of their match fee and clubs consider doing the same.
We understand that clubs have expenses to pay each week, but just add £1 onto the match fee maybe and you will get £25 or so from a game. £35 from the ref is £60. With 20 games next Saturday that is around £1200.

Of course clubs can contribute more and if they do that would be great.

Well that was superb, our initial target was to possibly equal the £1200 we raised a couple of years. But we knew that with only a week's worth of planning and with a few teams not having a fixture it would be a tall order.
But we all know what a great league we have a and what amazing people we have, playing, reefing, supporting and helping out with clubs.
The money started to come in, Saturday evening at Brize, ref's turned up with their cash and money from the teams as well. £100 turned into £200 which turned into £500 and then £1000. We had smashed the £1200 by 5:30.
More money came in by BACS, including guys that had played in our league years ago and yet still wanted to contribute.
As I write this the sum stand at around £2,500.00 with promises of more to come.

I don't care what anyone else says but that is TOTALLY AMAZING. Thank you all

We have a great league, lets tell everyone.

Where next?
